Rune crafting
In order to being rune crafting you must have completed the quest, Rune Mysteries if you intend on getting your own essence.
There are two different kinds of rune essence.
Rune essence, which can only be used for basic runes, air, water, fire, earth, body, and mind runes. Those runes are the only ones Free to Play people can craft. Anyone can mine this.
Pure essence: It is used for members only; otherwise it would be a waste.
It can make any type of rune, but you should only use it for runes higher than body runes. Only members with at least 30 mining can mine this on member’s world.
Rune essence is around 20-25 gp, maybe less. Pure essence is ~100 gp
If you intend on getting your own rune essence, you can get to the mines thru the following people.
Aubury in the runes shop a little bit south of varrok east bank.
Wizard Sedridor on the lowest part of the Wizard Tower south east of Draynor Village.
Wizard Distentor in the Magic Guild in Yanille.
Wizard Cromperty in East Ardougne, you go north east from the marketplace to get to him.
Crafting the runes:
Air rune, level 1 required; suggested to use rune essence, exp gain of 5 per rune crafted.
Alter is directly south of Falador.

Mind rune, level 2 required; suggested to use rune essence, exp gain on 5.5 per rune crafted.
Alter is north of Falador, in between goblin village and Ice Mountain.

Water rune, level 5 required; suggested to use rune essence, exp gain of 6 per rune crafted.
Alter is south east ((Far East)) of Draynor, in the lumby swamps.

Earth rune, level 9 required; suggested to use rune essence, exp gain of 6.5 per rune crafted.
Alter is north east of Varrok ((from the east entrance)) south of the Inn.

Fire rune, level 14 required; suggested to use rune essence, exp gain of 7 per rune crafted.
Alter is west of dueling arena, far north of Al-kharid.

Body rune, level 20 required; suggested to use rune essence, exp gain of 7.5 per rune crafted.
Alter is south of the monastery.

Cosmic rune (M), level 27 required; pure essence, exp gain of 8 per rune crafted.
Alter is in Zanaris, south east of the bank after a long tunnel.

Chaos rune (M), level 35 required; pure essence, exp gain of 8.5 per rune crafted.
Alter is north of Edgy, south of the Dark Castle, in level 9 wilderness.

Astral rune (M), level 40 required; pure essence, exp gain of 8.7 per rune crafted.
Alter is south east part of Moon Clan Island.

Nature rune (M), level 44 required; pure essence, exp gain of 9 per rune crafted.
Alter is south east of Tai Bwo Wannai Village, North of Shilo Village.

Law rune (M), level 54 required; pure essence, exp gain of 9.5 per rune crafted.
Alter is in the north east part of Entrana.

Death rune (M), level 65 required; pure essence, exp gain of 9.5 per rune crafted.
Alter is on the lowest floor in Mourning Ends Part 2 in the temple of light.

Air Rune: 2 runes for 1 essence at level 11, 3 for 1 at level 22, 4 for 1 at level 33,
5 for 1 at level 44, 6 for 1 at level 55, 7 for 1 at level 66, 8 for 1 at level 77, 9 for 1 at level 88,
10 for 1 at level 99.
Mind Rune: 2 for 1 at level 14, 3 for 1 at level 28, 4 for 1 at level 42, 5 for 1 at level 56,
6 for 1 at level 70, 7 for 1 at level 84, 8 for 1 at level 98.
Water Rune: 2 for 1 at level 19, 3 for 1 at level 38, 4 for 1 at level 57, 5 for 1 at level 76
6 for 1 at level 95.
Earth Rune: 2 for 1 at level 26, 3 for 1 at level 52, 4 for 1 at level 78.
Fire Rune: 2 for 1 at level 35, 3 for 1 at level 70.
Body Rune: 2 for 1 at level 46, 3 for 1 at level 92.
Cosmic Rune: 2 for 1 at level 59.
Chaos Rune: 2 for 1 at level 74.
Astral Rune: 2 for 1 at level 82.
Nature Rune: 2 for 1 at level 91.
Suggested rune crafting training:
Level 1-9, craft air runes.
Level 9-20, craft earth runes.
Level 20-27, craft body runes.
Level 27-44, craft cosmic runes, if you can craft astral runes at level 40, do so.
Level 44-54, craft nature runes using the abyss.
Level 54-65, craft law runes using the abyss.
Level 65 and up, craft death runes using the abyss.
Good money making for rune crafting is crafting nature runes using the abyss, crafting law runes, crafting death runes, double crafting chaos runes, double crafting astral runes, and double crafting nature runes. When ever rune crafting, always bring pouches if you can.
Tips and tricks:
There is no astral talisman, you get access to the alter when you do the moon clan quest. When using the abyss, bring the best dragon hide you can wear. Bring a ring of dueling instead of an amulet of glory so you minimize losses if you get killed. Bring a rune pick when abyss crafting, you usually are near the rocks. You don’t need a tiara or talisman when abyss crafting.
On lower levels where you are not abyss crafting, make a talisman and use it to get the most experience possible.
You need a tiara mold, a silver bar, smelt the bar into a tiara; bring the desired talisman. Go to the talismans alter, and use the tiara on the talismans alter, tiaras act just like talismans.
You can use elemental talismans to craft all basic runes, members only talisman, just to save bank space.
