Thumbs up {} Almost Complete guide to freeplay moneymaking

Are you a Runescape player that doesn't know how players afford all that shiny armor? Want to know how to make tons of money? You're about to find out. There are many ways to make money, some more profitable than others. I find that in the free worlds, mining and merchanting are the most secure forms of making yourself very rich.

MINING

Anybody can do it - starting off with an iron pickaxe and some rocks. Time consuming to level up, but at higher levels, it pays off.

My favorite mining spots in freeplay worlds:

Copper: South of Varrock
Tin: South of Varrock
Iron: Falador Mines
Coal: Falador Mines
Mithril: Falador Mines
Adamant: Falador Mines
Rune: Wilderness Rune Rocks

It's a time consuming process, but after a while, it pays off big time.

Some people like to smelt the ore that they mine, and then sell the bars or hammer them into armor and weapons... ...others like to sell it for others to smelt into bars. I personally hate lugging all that ore back and forth to the furnace, then back and forth (again) to the anvil. Here's some ore prices - most ores are bought in the Falador eastern bank at world 1, 3, 4, or 5.

Tin: Pretty much worthless - nobody wants to buy. Smelt or Drop.
Copper: Same as tin...
Iron: 100 each is the going price, maybe up to 120 on a good day.
Coal: 150 each is the going price, maybe up to 200 on a good day.

I haven't gotten really good at mining anything above coal - so I don't know. Just hang around the bank and wait for somebody to say *Selling mith/addy/rune ore ___ ea*

You can also check the forums for prices if you're a member.

MERCHANTING

My favorite method of making money, merchanting is basically buying low, and selling higher.

I'll show you two easy ways of making money through merchanting, and you can use your brilliant imagination to think of other items to apply the concept to.

Method 1
FEATHERS!!!

What you need to start:

-30,000 coins
-Patience

Don't have money? No problem. Train your chosen combat form of choice on these hapless birds while picking up feathers - within 2 hours you should have 5000 of the white things. Go to varrock, world 1, and sell at 6 gp each for 30k. Now begin.

Lots of people hang around at the chicken coops just north of lumbridge on the other side of the river. Chickens respawn very quickly, and there are almost always enough for everybody to kill. Feathers drop in amounts from 0-15, so people should have a lot. Set your buying price at 3 gp per feather. No Higher. You will be offered amounts usually under 1000 in any given world. Buy all of them, and if somebody doesn't want to sell them to you that cheaply, ignore them. Keep on advertising.

IMPORTANT: If somebody wants to sell you more, offer to make them your friend. When they get a certain amount - 250, 500, 2000; have them pm you. Hop to their world, and you have a nice little operation going. Get 10-15 consistent sellers, and you'll have a garanteed source of income.

Change worlds as often as needed - try for crowded ones (+1000) for more feathers.

Once you have spent your 30k, you should have exactly 10,000 feathers. Go to Varrock World 1, and sell them for 6 gp each.

Congratulations! You just doubled your money! If you want, keep the 60k and repeat. Sell for 120k, 240k, 480k, 960k, 1,920,000 coins, etc!

Method 2

ADAMANT ARROWS

What you need to start:

-At least 20,000 coins
-Ability to stay up late

Wait until everybody leaves (11:00 pm - 5:00 am Central Standard Time), and hop through uncrowded worlds (-400 people), buying arrows ONLY if there are 600 in stock. Buy only 50 per world. Buying 50 per world makes the average arrow price 100 gp each. To save a bit of money per world, buy 10 and wait until the shop puts another one in stock. You should collect an extra 100ish gold per 50 arrows, handy if buying lots.

Once you've spent all your money on arrows, you should have 200 (20k) adamant arrows.
Go to a packed world (1800+ people) and sell for 150 gp each. You should have 30k.

Feathers may seem like the better option, as you double your money each time you sell. However, depending on others to sell you feathers is not reliable. Pick your poison - either way will bring you money.

That's about it for moneymaking. PM me if you have questions/problems.
+Rep would be fantastic, if you think you will be helped by this thread.
