Here's a tip for Photoshop users to get rid of the edges.
Duplicate your image layer, and go to Filter->Blur->Gaussian Blur. range from .5(if you can do .5)~1. Shift click the image panel in the layers menu (the unblurred original layer) and then go to and select the blurred layer, whip out the eraser and erase.

What this should do is make the blurred layer a simple ring around the original layer removing any white fuzz.

This is a simple tip, I didn't try it, but its a quick way to remove fuzz on larger scale images.
