| I don't believe a worldwide attempt to prove religion is false would ever occur.
Religion instills blind submission to authority from birth. It gives people something to blame things on, and in societies eyes it bends people towards the greater good.
Let's look back at these greater goods of religion;
-Crusades
-Salem Witch Trials
-Islamic Extremists
-Most every war in history
Religion is important for the Authoritative figures of today. It gives them the advantage of saying it's "God's will," and getting the blind support of millions without a single one of them questioning it. The world needs religion. People need something to shift blame to so that they won't feel at fault. People want to feel like that little special and unique snowflake.
I personally believe religion, mostly Christianity, is used as a form of mass control. |
