Christianity, Judaism, and Islam do not = all religions. Dharmic religions, (such as Hinduism and Buddhism), are incredibly widespread as well and their followers are typically peaceful. Then you have neo-pagan religions and various others that don't fit into any particular category.
Humans naturally gravitate towards spirituality, for whatever reason; it may because they have a thirst for knowledge, a want for a community, a purpose, so basically, yeah.
The world needs religion, and to try to sum up all that is religious as 'an explanation for what can be explained by science' is ridiculous and ignorant. And if we didn't have suicide bombers killing in the name of Allah, we'd have suicide bombers killing in the name of political figure X. |
