GPoints: 33,587 Rep Power: 100 | Changing moderation styles with flaming Flaming has always been sort of a grey area, because it seems like a rule that is not much enforced. The pit certainly didn't help.
With the recent controversy around a ban, I feel it is time to clarify rules that already exist.
Moderators, administrators and especially users, Flaming, from now on, means a five point infraction. If you do the math, that means two times flaming = 3 day ban.
Now, let me define you flaming as well. Flaming is a harsh comment intended to hurt someone or to attack them. If you say "lololol zombie you're so gay" in a joking way, that doesn't get you an infraction, but if you say "zombie, gtfo you fucking faggot", that does. If someone flames you, report it. If you flame back, you, too, will get a five point infraction.
That is all.

If somebody got infracted for flaming because what was said seemed like a flame, but both parties involved knew it wasn't, would said infraction be removed?

GPoints: 22,241 Rep Power: 100 | Please note that these rules can only be properly enforced if users report flaming/flamebaiting. Flaming can only be considered flaming if it's perceived so by the target audience. Meaning what one person takes as a joke another might find it insulting - be aware of this. Flamebaiting does not give a user a right to retaliate aggressively, reporting posts is the only way your problem will be resolved.
New users bring a lot of potential for gaminggutter - hostile posting fucks that up entirely. | |
