Trading Post auto clearing

Those of you with over 25 posts should be aware of the popularity of our very own trading post.

To protect both buyers and sellers from possible consequences (i.e. getting banned at the games they bought or sold something for), we have added a new nifty function to the trading post; All threads older than two weeks will be automatically removed from public view. They are archived in case staff needs to review them, but there is no way for regular members or guests to view these anymore. This should help establish a safe trading enviroment, but also has consequences on your posting behaviour.

of course this means that you can no longer use the trading post for denouncing scammers, as the threads would be gone pretty fast. As such, we have also added a new "conflicts" forum for that precise purpose. If you have any threads you would like moved there (they will be gone already, but we can resurrect them) that were previously made somewhere else in the TP, just pm me, R.

Thanks Kyo. Also, will this effect our post count? Or will our post count remain the same with the thread just not being visible.

In the conflicts section, would it be benefitial to have a sticky about impersonators, always checking emails, always PMing the person, using a MM, etc? :o And how dumb you were for not doing it and that is why you are now making a thread there? :o

I know this isn't the suggestions thread but, I figured since it's directly related, I'm going to post this here.

So, non-members can come to the website and click the neopets trading section and they're able to view the entire list of threads in the section, and the user its created by. So - isn't seeing this just as bad when it comes to the security of the members?

I mean for instance, if someone was selling a rare expensive item and they make a thread saying "Selling MSPP" and it shows the username.. if there is a TNT spy then the spy can go look at other threads in other sections like spamz and find out more information about the user and nail them on neopets for it.

So point of all of that was, well, would it be possible for you to hide the trading post entirely to non-members?
I mean - in the main forum list they can still see "Trading post" and all the sub-forums listed, but they cant actually SEE what is inside the forum until they've joined.

i agree with sam. if you dont want to make it so the trading post count is higher, than it shouldnt be visible to non-members and members who dont have 25 posts. seeing as this site is basically built on trading, there should be more protection towards the trading post

Also - now that I thought about it, I think the same thing should go for the middleman forum where people request MM. That goes to show which user is trading exactly what.
