Not to mention the "No serving blacks and mongolians alcohol" or them reneging on multiple agreements they made with regards to media censorship and internet use. They've done nothing but go back on their word and go out of their way to push their own POLITICS on people who are competing or going there to watch.
In my oh-so-humble opinion the olympics should have never been held there.

Obviously, they are assholes, but it's their way of living.
As far as the Olympics being held there...They are participating in the Olympics, and every country participating has the right to hold the Olympics. I really don't think, as long as people stay in the restricted area meant for them, they don't have much to worry about. I also don't think that the government is a threat, because if they did anything to hurt the Olympics, theres no doubt that China would be banned from them, and they would basically screw themselves over.
Other than that, it's their country and their laws. As long as anyone is in their country, they have to follow their laws. Simple as that. :P

Obviously, they are assholes, but it's their way of living. | But the Olympics are a World Wide event and it's not just for them! And it is their way of living but that gets pushed on everyone participating, such as their nasty polluted air. Quote:

Except when there are people that are being discriminated against. When you agree to host a PTA meeting you can't invite all the parents and then decide that the black family can't have any of the wine. You are representing the grade/school/children. You can't bring your own politics into it. Quote:

Simple as that. :P | I don't think that is fair at all. Going there for the olympics is a lot different than just visiting the country. They are hosting a world wide event and need to take EVERYONE into consideration and treat everyone fairly, regardless of their own laws and politics. But I guess that's more along the lines of morals/ethics so I'm still thinking about that one.

- You can't expect every country to conform to your standard of living.
- Every participating country should have the right to "apply" to have the Olympics hosted there. There's an entire Olympic Committee that chose China.
Furthermore, the Olympics should NOT be about politics. This is the one stupid time where all our customs and crap can go out the door for the sake of athletic competition.
I have friends in China that have nothing to do with Tibet, aren't racist, are good people, and I think it's B.S. to judge another country like that. I mean, I'm in the U.S., and I'm tired of other countries thinking we're war-hungry, ignorant jerk-offs because of OUR upper administration.
What's yoru guys' problem with the Chinese people? Forget their government, I think the peoiple deserve this!

I guess a lot of us haven't been thinking about the people themselves who are independent of their country.
Thanks. | |

Review american history and figure out why most of the wars america initiated happened, very few had a valid reason.
By 'guys' i dont mean every single american, america as a whole.
