i hate when people, especially my parents, try to argue with me in saying that the world was a better place back in the 60s because people "had their religion". i dont get why believing in an invisible man makes the world better. he tried to prove that there was less crime and drugs and i basically owned him in facts. and what the fuck, hippy age? tons of drugs. people just didnt give a shit, it had nothing to do with religion. Automerged doublepost:
something funny. it goes hand in hand with how stupid fox news is.

I believe in both. Yes obvioulsy the world was not created in 10 days, and the bible doesent say it was. The bible was meant to be read and interpreted. It was not meant to be factual.

you are correct in saying the bible does not say it was created in 10 days. the bible states that the earth was created in 6 days not 10. check out genesis 1:1 to 2:3.
day 1 - creation of light and its seperation from darkness'
day 2 - seperation of the sky and oceans
day 3 - seperation of land from the oceans, spreading of plants and grass and trees across the land
day 4 - creation of the sun moon and stars
day 5- creation of sea animals and birds
day 6 - creation of land animals
day 7 - god rested
also in Exodus 31:17 God made the heavens and earth in six days.
so, false.

In my opinion, bible just used complicated deep words and phrases to be safe; because they were totally unsure about everything so they want people to just interpret it to whatever reasonable thing they could apply the phrases to.
That's why believers never ran out of reasons whenever defending the bible because they could just make up a meaning on each phrases. No matter how stupid the reason is.
Though for me, I don't think I'd trust my life and faith to something not constant.

"and the earth was created in 6 days" - bible
"NONONO! IT MEANS 6,000 years, you have to put this and this and this into perspective and then twist this straw around and hold it in the air, and you get 6,000"

I'm reading Bless Me, Ultima for honors english and it's so weird how it ties in christianity and how it questions the religion so deeply and the story it portrays throughout the book as well, If you get the chance I'd definitely recommend it, very thought provoking
I believe in science. My cousin who is like "oh my gosh can't miss church!" tried to explain Christianity to me and she was like God created people and stuff, but if God was a person then how the fuck did he create people?
