I think they forgot to beat me with rulers. odarn. | Yea my parents did too, in the beginning it was more my choice to go, but in the end my parents stop going and I kept going and eventually, I realized out of all my learning and praying, I questioned god's existance
~I would ask to myself how could god chose if someone goes to heaven or hell?
~How he would let murder and rape happen?
~Why we had to suffer the mistake of Eve making the first sin, condemning humans outside of the garden?
All those questions ran through my head and a million more, and I left church because I could never believe in a god who lets that crap happen.

Although, the people that actually belive might be more lucky in a scene that they actually have someone that is always "there". I mean, it's better to be crazy and think you have a good life than being down to earth and depressed i guess. lol.

Science is here to explain what CAN be explained. Religion is for the Unexplainable. Science to improve every day life, and religion to guide us in that life on the right path.

I mean, it's better to be crazy and think you have a good life than being down to earth and depressed i guess. lol. | yeah i was forced to sunday school and confirmation and whatever the fuck comes after confirmation? am i thinking of confirmation? whats that one that you get in like 7th grade? what are the steps..
anyway, i got kicked out of ccd like three weeks before that little thing happened and my dad grounded me and was furious and told me i couldnt get married in a church and i would be so upset when i was older and that i should pray to god that they let me back into ccd. hah. but then a priest in the area got conviced of child molesting so my dad stopped caring so much. Automerged doublepost:
also i just found this and lol'd Quote:
Answer: In order to get married in the Catholic Church, you must be:
* A Baptized Christian
Both partners do not have to be a Catholic in order to be sacramentally married in the Catholic Church, but both must be baptized Christians (and at least one must be a Catholic). Non-Christians cannot receive the sacraments. For a Catholic to marry a non-Catholic Christian, express permission is required from his or her bishop. A Catholic can marry an unbaptized person, but such marriages are natural marriages only; they are not sacramental marriages. The Church, therefore, discourages them and requires a Catholic who wishes to marry an unbaptized person to receive a special dispensation from his or her bishop. Still, if the dispensation is granted, a non-sacramental marriage is valid and can take place inside of a Catholic church.

GPoints: 555 Rep Power: 2 | I'm Catholic and I personally want to believe in my religion and stuff, but there's just so many things that I'm doubting that I honestly don't know what to think.
At my church they even have these "helpers," who are basically teens who are going through the same things that we are and they help us whenever we are doubting our religion, etc. Although sometimes, their explanations seem a little far fetched.
I understand why people believe in God, and I believe in God too, although there is always doubt on my mind. Such as: "How can there even be a God?" Wouldn't another God have to have created him too, and so on and so forth. This is what makes me believe in science along with all the evidence that there is.
On the other hand, many times I have prayed and what I prayed for actually happened. For example, once I prayed for my aunt to be able to visit me after a series of events happened that wouldn't let me see her. But in the end, I got to see her again after almost a decade.
Then again, this could just be a coincidence, but I like to think that there is a God anyway.
So yeah, I honestly don't know what to believe, but like another poster said, science guides us on our everyday lives, while religion guides us morally.

I know I just sounded a little hypocritical, but this is exactly why I doubt religion sometimes. If something doesn't happen, then it probably won't happen any time soon.
It's interesting debating all of this online, because if I mentioned that I'm doubting my religion to my mom, I would be sent to a Catholic School or something.
That's another thing I dislike about religion, that when people think that something bad is going to happen, someone is like "Repent and be saved," or "Read the bible, it'll help."
People believe in God when they have no explanation for something that happened, IMO. So that's when people start to get all religious and shit, but I just don't see the big deal in it.

and i know what you mean. my dad would always get upset when i told him i didnt believe in god.
and then i hate how theyre like oh i prayed for this and it didnt happen. god must have other plans for me. WTF IT DOESNT WORK BOTH WAYS

WTF IT DOESNT WORK BOTH WAYS | I'm 16, and my parents are still forcing me to go to church with them. I've decided not to tell them yet. I just go to church (we only make it like, once a month) and just kind of zone out for an hour. It doesn't really hurt me. I don't think I'm going to just tell them. When I move out I'll just stop going. :P I think it's better for the relationship just to keep quiet about it. It's not like we're one of those hardcore religious families, anyway. It's just like "It's been a few weeks and it's sunday... We should probally go since we have nothing else planned today..."
Anyway, with all these different religions, how can you be so fucking stuck up to think yours is the only right one? Because your parents believed in it? I think it's ridiculous. The thought of your religion being better and right has killed million of people. 9-11? Pulely religious. And you cant say something like "Well, Muslim is wrong!" because Christianity is just as fucked up. lol. Christianity has probally killed more people than the Muslim religion has because of the Cathlics churches role through out the centuries. Their motto was basicly "Oppose us and we'll kill you"
