GPoints: 9,481 Rep Power: 9 | Doctor or All-Natural? As the title says..When you are sick, do you prefer to go to the doctor or someone who specializes in all-natural herbs and stuff.
I prefer the doctor simply because I don't want to play with my body (lol) and wait too long for a cure on the off-chance some weird jungle herb will cure me.
I believe natural medication is good for minor things like nutritional supplements, deodorant, curing a cold...but when you have an ear infection or strep throat or the flu, I prefer to go to the doctor. When my life is at stake, I prefer to go to the doctor.
I don't use pills for anything, really. I don't use Advil or vitamins ( Too many vitamins? - health effects of taking megadoses of vitamins | Harvard Health Letter | Find Articles at BNET) or any other type of drug unless administered by the doctor, since I don't believe in pumping my body full of pills that may do me more harm than good (weaker immune system, more dependency when I feel pain, problems later, etc)
Right now I can't talk and my head is a mess and my mom has me on this weird natural liquid drop thing three times a day and vitamin C and so far it isn't working. And I feel that by the time it does "work", the sickness will already be gone. Your views on Doctor/all-natural? I am not putting a middle-ground option in here so you have to think about your choice, weigh the good and the bad of each, and ultimately choose between the two. There is a third option for those who use alternative methods to Doctor and All Natural.

GPoints: 106,388 Rep Power: 27 | If I really need to, I'll go to the doctor, but I'd much prefer try OTC medicines first.
I don't really care about how natural the stuff I take is.
But, I do not like taking medicines...Period. I never took vitamins, except for a short amount of time during a diet, and even now I only occasionally take my prenatals.
As far as pain medication goes, I try to ride it out if I can, but sometimes even really dull pains that don't hurt that bad, I'll take a couple asprin for because it won't go away and it's just annoying. I take stronger doctor prescribed pain reliever when I'm on my period, but usually just the first 2-3 days.
But in general, if I don't have to take something, I won't. The only thing I'm lenient on, right now anyways, is Tums, because I'm getting heartburn ALOT. Doctor said the calcium is good for me anyways.
I will be buying gummy vitamins next time I go to the store though, since I really kinda should be taking something since I'm not eating alot. >.>
But yeah, doctors ftw, provided they aren't idiots.

GPoints: 6,789 Rep Power: 15 | My mom was taking all these prescriptions for psoriasis for over a year and nothing seemed to work, then she tried these natural whatevers for one month so far and its already a major improvement. So in all honestly I have no idea. I never go to the doctor as I'm never sick (last time i was sick was like grade 2) and i've never taken natural stuff.

When I had my second allergic reaction, I rushed over to one though mainly because I knew how long it would take my body to go back to normal- and how terrible the hives were without treatment.
But generally I webMD what I've got, then look online for some home remedies that I actually have lying around the house.

"Well, it looks like you have a cold, Miss."
Gee, if I wanted that kind of conclusion I would have paid some random man on the street $5.
I CHOOSE ALL-NATURAL. Unless the doctor is a hottie, or unless my condition is severe.

GPoints: 373 Rep Power: 5 | The only time I ever go to the doctor is when I get shots. And at that, I haven't been in a long long time. Unless going to a place other than a hospital that gives free shots?
But when I'm sick, I sometimes take and Advil or Aleve. Other than that, all natural Asian curing techniques.

BUT WE ARE GETTING DERAILED.
To keep this debatable and not general, how about the next question: Why do you choose your preference over the other? For example, going to the doctor over the all-natural and vice versa.
