The Homosexuality Thread

The second of my two threads. Homosexuality. By most religious texts, it is a sin. In some cases it is even punishable by death. Why do we feel this way? Is it truly all that bad for a guy to have intimate feelings for another guy? Or for a girl to have the same feelings for another female?

I believe that it is not. I have met a few gay people, and whilst their flamboyancy can be kind of annoying at times, the people that I have met are not bad people.

And to any who believe that gay people are the "root of all evil" per se: Would you still believe gay people are such bad people if you hadn't read the Bible? The Bible is the center of the thought that being homosexual is a sin. Being one of the first books ever published, and being translated many texts, the ideas in the Bible have been around a long time. Religious fanatics are, in my opinion, most at blame for the hate of homosexuality.

I would like everyone's opinion, but only if it is a good opinion with backing to it. Please do not come on my thread and post "GAY Pe0PL3 SuCK L0lLLZZ!!!!on1!!!". I will report your post.

Also, hate speeches are not welcome.

A lot of people just do not like people who are not like themselves. That is the reason why it's a sin in the bible - because it was written by humans. No, it's not wrong to be attracted to another human being.

I can't even comment on the flamboyancy without going into a long tirade involving mental illness, though.

I think the flamboyancy adds to the annoyance of most people.

I think the flamboyancy is the most annoying thing about any homosexual, but the thing is not that many homosexuals are I think the flamboyant. I am a religious person, and there are a lot of things I disagree with about the way homosexuals are treated. I was taught to love everyone no matter who they were and not to pass judgement. I don't agree with same sex marriage because in all honestly 1, marriage is a religious union and most homosexuals are not religious, and 2, most gays only want marriage to have the same rights as every other couple in America. But hell, I think we should be able to add whoever want to onto our insurance. We should have whoever we want as a beneficiary. I don't agree with the way the government treats gays.

I must admit, I expected the first religious poster to bash the life out of all gays. Lol.

I don't agree with the gay lifestyle and I wouldn't engage in it myself, however people should be able to choose their sexual orientation without fear of persecution.

Out of curiosity, what is the gay lifestyle? Simply being attracted to others of the same gender? Or do you mean the stereotypical gay lifestyle of sleeping with a new person every night, getting wasted, being shallow, living only for sex, etc.?

I hear conservatives throwing around the "gay lifestyle" term and it's always confused me. Just what do you mean by it?

That's odd; I've had to fight to separate myself from it and convince my friends that being gay doesn't make you a man whore. In my opinion, it's probably the worst gay stereotype and the main thing that makes my life difficult and stressful.
