Living with a stranger or friend?

Most often, people who go into postsecondary education have to live away from home. They either rent a place or live in the school's campus.

In my area, the schools allow you to choose who you want to room with. If you want to room with your friend, you two will have to submit the same answers so that the school will put you in the same double room. Otherwise, if you rather meet someone new, you allow the school to choose the roommate for you.

So the question is, would you rather choose to live with someone you know or someone you've never met?

Living with a stranger can be a new experience by broadening your network, however, sometimes you may not be compatible for each other. Meanwhile, living with a friend will ensure many things.

I'd rather live with a friend than a stranger but if I have to live with someone I've never met, I wouldn't mind either.

Well, obviously a friend because friend is a broad range and many people can fit into the category. You can choose the one you like the best. But like you already stated, with a stranger you always have to gamble.

I have to live with a stranger for one and a half months for a summer program I'm doing.
I originally planned to dorm with my friend, but she's not accepted, so changes of plan.
But living with a stranger wouldn't be bad; you meet new people and different connections.
So stranger = better things.
I don't know. I prefer stranger.

I'd probably prefer rooming with a friend, but on the other hand, I like trying to meet new people and form new friendships.

I somewhat do want to room with a stranger probably because my sister became pretty good friends with her new roommate. So seeing that it worked out for her, I kind of think that it might work for me too. But there's always uncertainty.

im moving out of my apt this fall and living at my school...with strangers! ive gotten these random phone calls from people asking me to be their roomate (im on the looking for roomates list) i think it will be interesting living with 3 other strangers o_O
