The auction basically had a description telling the story of a father who did not give his son "Guitar Hero" because he caught his son smoking weed. So I really want to hear some opinions, do you think smoking pot is ok (how awesome am I, 3 different names for the same thing in one post :P anyway..)? On one hand, pot is very carcinogenic and can cause lung cancer in far less quantities than tobacco, it also can tear apart families, have strain on finance and severe long term effects. Also, in this situation... isn't it rather disrespectful that a son would do such a thing on his own father's property. On the other hand, shouldn't users have a choice? Me? I have never smoked marijuana in my life at the age of 17 at present and 18 in March 2008 even though I could go to the ACT and buy legal stuff. There's my opinion but I really want to hear and see some different views...everyones entitled to an opinion so theres no wrong or right answers I would also like to clear up that I do not "Hate" Marijuana users... I think they are putting a lot at stake but it's totally their choice how they wish to spend their lives and their money.

However, it can cause relapses for those who have schizophrenia, so its obviously not for everyone and should be usually medically ideally, but recreationally too as long as its used carefully.
As far as the 'tearing apart families' thing, well, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I've seen alcohol tear people apart more than cannabis, and I've seen marijuana actually bring people together.
Marijuana has a huge stigma on it that has little truth, due to many years of anti-'drug', pro-tobacco propaganda. Its really tiring.

I still would not smoke it personally though because it still does have many dangerous effects. As I said in my first post, the capital of Australia literally does have legalized marijuana and you are allowed to keep a certain amount and not sell it commercially. It's pretty ironic that people far away from Canberra may want legalization but will never get it, hen many anti legalization people such as myself live right next door to a legal place. In really, really, really long term effects marijuana has shown to cause mental disorders . Everyones allowed to have their opinion. I do not care what people say when it comes to the dangers though, whilst some of the theories have been proven wrong there is still proof marijuana can cause damage, I really do not see the point in such a small amount of fun from marijuana can cause such huge, destructive things. It can ruin your career, your bank and your family- I never said alcohol wouldn't do this and I never said marijuana would always do this however, it can do this...which is why I'm against it...also everyone sorry about the typo in the title, I was suer it was correct at the time....but then again... it was 1AM :P

My opinion on it though, is it can cause serious paranoia, which is not nice, not nice at all, and is not worth it when it comes to side affects and withdrawal symptoms.

If a friend of mine or anyone else, however, wanted to give it a try, I wouldn't stop them (give them fair warning, yes, but not stop them) or condemn them for it. If you want to do it, go ahead. Just know what you're going to get into.
