well its kind of hard to punish someone fairly for trying to kill them self. what kind of punishment would you suggest

i think suicide should be legal, otherwise youre basically locking someone in a life they dont want to live

Well if that person really didn't want to live, I don't think putting them in jail is gonna stop them. I don't think any restrictions would solve the matter xP

There really is no way to make it illegal, and not look like an incompetent dick.
You can't punish someone if they're dead.
And if a person doesn't want to live, let them die, so long as you made an attempt to persuade them to not kill themselves.
It's inhumane to force a person to live if their life is depressing enough to want to die.
It's the same thing as a mercy killing, except it's done by ones self.

trying to kill yourself is a crime, try killing yourself and you would be put on jail for intent of homicide.

If you kill yourself, your body will be taken and thrown in a pit where rabid dogs will eat it. From then on, local sewage will drain into that pit.

But in all seriousness, there's no way to punish it. Failed suicide is already a crime in a way, because you'll probably end up committed and on suicide watch, which is hell in and of itself. But if you actually manage to kill yourself, there's not much that anyone can do.

I'm pretty sure if they have a strong enough problem to result to killing themself they are not going to think twice about some law.
