GPoints: 1,894 Rep Power: 11 | Should the US schools.... They are thinking about like mushing middle and elementary schools together. They say the crime rate is lower. And that the younger kids have more better influences. -cough- my ass -cough-
I don't know. My cousins are in middle school and they hate the idea. They say they like being freed. What's your opinion?

Elementary schools are still extreamly innocent, yes i think they should increase the amount of education you recieve there (just because of the damn fact that if they had more education then i wouldbe so far ahead right now, more than i am as of now)
You can't mush those together, it doesn't work.
the transition from elementary school to middle school was sweet, but the private school i go to mushes together middle and high.
you can do that, but i don't think you should with elementary schools, it is just not a good idea.

Why?
I went to my sisters school today.
And guess what?
I saw a 3rd grader, cursing as if he was on the streets with the homies.
Obviously, he should be like that (depending on his choices with life) in the future, but not on an early age.
Why?
Because it influences everyone around that kid, and then it gets spreaded.
Ca` mon. What do you think parents will say? Yeah.
Also..
The older kids, would obviously pick on the younger ones. Thus leading to violence.
The end.

The end. | lmfao I loved the way you said that.
This is true. I don't see how merging the two would make any benefits. We would just have littler kids being picked on and having older kids being bad influences on them. What good would come from it? | |

| | | In Brazil you need 11 years of school to go to University.
We call it 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and so on until 8th. Then it's 1st, 2nd and 3rd again.
I'll explain why:
(All school terms begin in late February or beginning of March, have a winter break in July [from 3 to 1 week(s), depending the school], then end in December or late November, for Summer break [always until the next term.).
1st | [6-7] years old child]
2nd |
3rd | Are called "Ensino Fundamental".
4th |
5th | [10-11]
------
6th | [11-12]
7th | Are called "Ensino Médio".
8th | [13-14]
----- This closes a block of studying. 99% of schools have up to here.
1st | [14-15]
2nd | Are called part of "Segundo Grau".
3rd | [16-17]
----- This closes another block. I'd say that 80% of the schools also have up to here, though there are some specialized just in those 3 years.
Then you go to any University you choose. It may be private or public (the latter far more disputed).
In both cases you need to get a good score in a test called "Vestibular", which contains questions about the subjects learned in the Segundo Grau.
After you complete graduation you may just choose post-graduation, master degree, doctorate, etc..
This being explained, I agree that my Ensino Fundamental (1st part) should be taught separated from the rest. Ensino Médio and Segundo Grau could keep going together though..
I think I said enough so you can adapt my education system to yours.
14-15's just ignore 11-12. They'd think "They're so still kids." :P | |

elementary school is for little kids.
that would be just dumb putting teens in with little kids.
there are some little kids that like, have bad attitudes and stuff, and some who learn to be good.
if you put the teens with the little kids for the "better influence" you're not going to get anything but more kids acting up, trying to act like their influences.

T_T | Because you are a single human being and it would take a riot threatening to burn down a government building to get them to listen. | |
