once you start, it's hard to stop.

And we have a high percentage of smokers. I have lots of friends that smoke so it's not like I discriminate against people who have the habit lol. But I think science has kinda proven it's rather unhealthy. I know the phrase that everyone dies of something, but I often think of "quality of death". Dying from lung cancer or any other cancer cigarettes can grow in your body is a long, painful, pitiful death. I see these little yellowy coloured, shriveled up old guys here with freaking oxygen tanks being delivered every other day so they can exist as they need the tanks to breath @_o. And then I hear the guy is actually like, 50 years old and just looks like a 200 year old rotting corpse.
Then a high school girl lights up cause it's "cool" =D.
People have the right to choose though- but as a non-smoker it makes me feel ill if I'm in a confined space with a pack of smokers

GPoints: 4,144 Rep Power: 20 | A large majority of my friends smoke aswell, and I've tried once or twice. Honestly I never felt the "addiction" many claim to be clamped under. Smoking is unhealthy is a lot of ways, especially for those around a smoker. Be it a lover, a child or friends. Smoke molecules (I suppose) are absorbed into your saliva and clothing, the saliva most dangerously can cause mouth cancer and such. Clothing, well, if you have children then you know they bury their faces in the safety of your shirts. Not only does it stink, its very unattractive, bad for the skin, body, mental health and overall lifespan.
The addiction I feel is more of a psychological grasp. Most people when they start they don't care about the health aspect but are aware of the addiction cigarettes has (commercials, other people, word of mouth) and quite frankly continue to smoke for ego reasons. I mean why else would you waste cash on something that doesn't benefit you? Then when they realize its a waste and it sucks, they are already 6 feet buried in the thoughts of difficulty it takes to quit. All in all a lose, lose situation. Other corporations that help quit are just as bad if not worse then the cigarette corporation, because the majority of actually quitting is all mental, nicotine gums, patches, etc. Are all wastes.
