Swine Flu Shot/Mist - Your opinion?

So, I'm 16 and my mom wants me to get this swine flu shot and to be honest, I don't want it.

Why:
- Swine flu vaccine killed more people than the swine flu did
- Professional-to-be cheerleader got Dystonia
Now for the real reasons
- Useless, will save me for a little bit before I'll get it anyway
- I'd be a carrier for it to mutate

When you have an immunity for the virus, it's going to want to change. So since you have the immunity, you'll be one of the people it'll try to change in. When it does change, even though you may not get it, you can pass it on to people. So in other words, the vaccine isn't really doing anything but building up an immunity for the general consensus and then when one person of the millions is a carrier for the virus and it spreads, we have the whole epidemic over again.

Personally, I'd rather be sick for 48 hours and not get this vaccine. Not only that but the chances for getting the sickness are pretty low anyway.

I had the virus back in June, it really isn't THAT bad. A bit worse than a bad flu, but tolerable.

My boyfriend's mother is a respiratory therapist, and she advised against me and her son getting it because she sees FIRST HAND the complications from the vaccine.

As far as I know, it has not been tested thoroughly. In the past we needed at least a year of testing alone before marketing a 'safe' vaccine. The outbreak JUST STARTED a year ago.

I am not getting, nor are any members of my family.

Yeah. I didn't think so. I wouldn't want it either.

My sister is a sleep therapist and she's losing her job to the respiratory therapists. That's a shame. Just throwing tha tout there because you said something about a resp. therap.

I mean, the concept is good but you see where I'm coming at with the mutations, right?

Global immunity = virus is GOING to change.

The H1N1 virus was engineered by the Novavax company.

Do not get the vaccine. You are 16 years old, and probably in optimal health. The majority of deaths were not from the virus, but complications due to it. It mainly effects young + elderly. If you want to take your chances with an untested vaccination, by all means, go ahead; however, there are those of us who tend to not inject unknown substances into our bodies.

Yeah, I see where you're coming from, and you are correct in stating that.

It's why the flu virus is as unstable as it is now, and there are diseases like MRSA (Hell, in the name there is the word RESISTANT for a reason.)

My mom tried to get me to get it so I went off on a tangent and she was quiet for the rest of the car ride. Got her to shut up because she felt stupid after everything she said I countered. Woop woop.

If I was unhealthly, young, or old, I'd probably get one. Hell, I only get the yearly regular flu shot because it's free.

I'm not all scared or conspiring over it.

You do realize that the swine flu has been around for a while, right? Before April 2009, which is when vaccine was introduced or what have you.

Hell I don't even believe the "more people died from the vaccine over the h1n1". Provided, if there were facts or proof, I'll give in.

Your mom can still make you get it though. She can still make your medical decisions.

If I had to choose getting sick over the vaccine, I'll take the vaccine, thanks.

Fuck the swine shot.

I'd rather just have the swine flu. Apparently --which probably isn't true-- the people who made the vaccine are not getting it themselves and are encouraging their friends / family to avoid it. Doesn't sound like a great idea to get one to me.

Well swine flu symptoms can be very extreme. Just a few days ago, someone in my area died from it. Sometimes it feels like just a normal flu and sometimes it can be very bad. Depends on the person.
However, I am definately not getting the vaccine since there is a higher chance of acquiring the flu through that then anything else. Just wash your hands regularly ;)

Any flu-like symptoms from myself or my fiance, and our asses will be in the ER. Thankfully, I don't deal with the public much other than going grocery shopping every two weeks, he on the other hand deals with large groups of people daily.
I'll not be getting the vaccine. I'm not a vaccine person. Shit, I can't remember the last time someone tried to jab me in the arm with a needle. I do know that I need my Tetanus shot renewed which has needed to be done since I was 13, and I'm 19 now.
