I think what you're thinking of is "Puppy love" Vs "in love".
If I say I'm in love with my husband, then it means I love him. o.o

I also think you are really only 'in love' with one person, there is no such thing as really being in love with two people. x_x;
So yeah. theres a difference. :3

So yes, there's a huge difference

And the whole love/in love thing has been answered 20 times already so I'll just leave it at that. :]

You can be IN LOVE with your spouse, and you can also LOVE them.
You LOVE your parents, does this mean you are IN LOVE with them? No.
Difference. | |

GPoints: 955 Rep Power: 2 | the key words there are 'in & with'. It takes the general word 'love' and applies special meaning to it. It's easy to 'love' but it takes honesty, guts and dedication to be in love with someone. I think alot of people mistake this.

They're happy. Being "in love" with someone means you have feelings towards them and you really are "in love".

GPoints: 380 Rep Power: 1 | I think there is a very big difference. I personally just got out of 3 year relationship a few months ago. The decision to breakup was mutual and one of the things we both came back to was that we both loved each other very much... but we were not in love with each other. It was much more of platonic or familial kind of love, but we were so comfortable in the relationship we held on as long as possible because it was hard to let it go. He is my absolute best friend and I will always love him deeply... but I'm not in love with him and I don't want to be in a relationship with him.
I guess it all really depends on how you're defining love.
