Absolutely, they should have ratings, i mean i'm not big on them, but almost every kid is being exposed to them, at least put on a rating to show what the teenagers are actually watching.

I think so.
Kids are getting exposed to explicit materials like those you mentioned.

I don't see any particular reason. If they were going to do a rating system on them I would think they would have done it already.
Alright, so you're stating that everything that is, is perfect and that nothing needs improvement. So civil rights movements, revolutions, legislation, etc, they all happen for no reason?

Quote:
It is the persons choice wether they want to watch that video clip.
No it always isn't, lol, Many people do things all the time to "fit in." No one wants to be an outcast. ;)

Quote:
A 10 year old would already have very firm ideas about how a women should be treated etc and just because he sees a female in a tight skirt with HUGE boobs doesnt automaticly create the perception that all women are whores that strip of your cloths and get on their knees and suck your d*ck.
A 10 year old? I hope you're kidding yourself. Even most 16 year olds aren't fully psychologically developed to have their own true opinions. A 10 year old knows nothing but what is around him, and through his surroundings his character is formed.

Quote:
No no no, and even if the video does mould them, as you say above, they will soon learn why you shouldnt treat a women this way.
What is it they will learn? Most of these videos, as well as the media, support the idea of treating women like disposable pleasures. Hell, look at that Jamie Spears person. She's what, 15ish and pregnant? lol. That's pathetic, and the media isn't really downplaying it.

Quote:
Because with age comes smarts, and the average 14 year old knows that a person wont want to go out with him if he treats her like shit and expects sex every night oh no no no.
Age means absolutely nothing, sir. I have been to 7 High Schools. Some were private, some were public, and one was a boarding school. I have learned from personal experience that the argument of "Age = knowledge" is null and void. At 14, I was smarter than most seniors in my schools. As far as book smarts, wisdom is the amount of life experience one has, and trust me...lol. An "average" 14 year old has little-to-none. You have a point, yes they may learn not to treat them like shit...but what they WILL learn from these videos is that art of manipulation to get what you want from them.

Quote:
Im not trying to say that the clips dont influence the kids, they sure as hell do. But not to the extent of what you guys are implying. They wont permanintly stuff a kid up and give him bad values.
They certainly do not build a good moral character. They imply, suggest, and express that selfishness and instant pleasure is above all.

Quote:
And if you are any good a parents as you think you are you will be able to controll your kids no matter what media influences them.
Yes, because when you were a child you were always 100% obedient, correct? BS. lol. Children rebel, and some forms of rebellion are to do what they're told not to, correct? Thus your point is flawed.

Quote:
I mean a kid isnt going to abanden their family and go of raping girls because a video clip says so.
You are playing extremities.

Quote:
These kids have commen sence and by saying they cant controll their own minds you are implying stupidity in them. They are alot smarter than you give them credit for and are not so easily influenced.
I see you've no background in psychology, social engineering, or even psychological warfare. A child is not capable of controlling his own mind. A child's mindset is a product of his environment and own thoughts. His own thoughts, which are many times greatly influenced by those around him. Children do not hold the mental capacity to be the self-aware person you claim they can be.

My main argument here is that the Music Videos, as well as most forms of media are out of control. I'm sick of seeing children reciting lines to "Soulja Boy - Crank That." I'm tired of the little 12 year old girl in the store wearing a shirt that says "I fake it." A child is not, and never will be capable of forming his own opinions free from the environment around him. He will either accept it, or reject it. The majority of the times it's accepted.

You can say that the demoralization of society has nothing to do with the "freedom" of expression and unregulation of the trash that's being circulated, but you should also look at statistics. Along with the excessive "freedom" came the downfall of society as a whole. It's only after Willham Reich (The rival of Sigmund Freud) sold his ideas to corporate America. He believed that in order to control a society you must unleash the peoples' unconscious desires. Thus, creating selfish, greedy, and lust-driven people. He promoted that advertisements should express that ones first and most important duty was to be "unique" and care for yourself and only yourself. When you give a person individuality, they will believe they're free. Years back, people thought as a whole and for the better of the many. Now, people think as an individual, and for the benefit of themselves.

The belief that the satisfaction of individual feelings and desires is societies highest priority today. Music Videos, and almost all sorts of media have not helped this at all. Although that people feel they are free, most have become slaves to their desires. Capitalism plays upon this idea, promoting music and videos. How many songs do you hear on the radio that express the need for "Bitches, Money, Spinnerz," etc? How many songs express some of the most disgusting things, yet are regurgitated by children?

When you take something and place it in an environment, and it is raised there...The most probable outcome is that it will develop behavior and thoughts associated with what it is around. If you take a kitten, and place it with a family of dogs/puppies. There's a /very/ high chance the kitten will develop dog like behavior and aspects. The same goes with a child. If you raise a child on music that expresses the worthlessness of women that most Rap songs do, his morals and character will follow suit.

You can say that a person is aware of what is right and wrong all you want, but it's scientific fact/psychology that a person is never their own true ideas. They are influenced by what is around them, and through this they form ideas and opinions.

Children = A person's foundations and roots.
Children = Vulnerable to ideas/etc in their environment

What a person is exposed to as a child has a large factor in who they are as an adult.

I favor and strongly suppor the idea of a rating system. Honestly, if the U.S. ever wants to get out of it's downward spiral, there's gong to have to be some sort of government intervention, whether it be censorship or what. It is the governments obligation to protect and serve the people. Would that not mean they should have the ability to regulate the filth that's being circulated? They ban Religion from public schools because it's deemed inappropriate, but a 12 year old reciting a song about using a women as a toy is acceptable? I think not.

I think they should.
I really think they should.
It shows how the generation has changed.
Most kids of the 85's to 90's era are more gentleman, and we remember pogs, and crazy bones, and such. Todays era, kids are more on the term of trying to sell you stuff, "hustling" and getting the womens body, not her personality. The big famous musicians, a lot of them have changed the economy in the not so positive way, on my perspective that is.
