Today's Music Videos

Today's music videos are getting more and more.... exposed to today's teenagers and youngens. Just today I saw models in mini skirts... like REALLY tiny skirts. And THONGS... like the underwear. Pouring water on themselves and blowing on a sax.

The question is:

Should Today's Music Video Have Ratings Like The Movies And Television Shows?

I think they should have ratings, I'm really sick of watching porno-like video clips. If I wanted to watch porn then I'd just use the internet. Some videos aren't too bad though but they still should have ratings, that way they can't show them constantly.

I do think they should have ratings.

I babysit two young children on weekdays after their school time. Costa who is only eight loves to watch TV as much as his elder brother Alex who is ten. But they constantly surf through channels and I've even seen them watching MTV sometimes--which I make them change whenever they watch it. --I'm worried about both young boys and young girls who are subjected to these kinds of things.. Young boys at the most will grow up with this kind of stuff and even if their parents are to tell them that a woman is not a possession--they see it on TV, their favorite rapper talking about a girl like shes just a toy, and of course the high roll model the people play and these stupid music videos makes it hard for them to understand right from wrong.

Now I'm probably going off topic and saying that simply the music is bad but I don't want to... so back on track.--

My main opinion on the music videos is yes, they should be rated and I believe in the highest since that if things continue as they do women are going to continue being seen as possessions of a man and nothing more.

Now before you get angry at me and saying "Well your a girl! Not all guys are like that!" That is true. I'm with someone right now who's living proof there is still decency in men. And I am NOT saying that it is all mens fault--The women are the ones who turn themselves into little whores up on TV or in these music videos. And then the cycle repeats itself, little girls see these women and want to be like them--so their innocent minds are molded to that fact.

And... I've run out of ranting power. But yes--thats all I have to say on the matter. Besides this one question... ( Has anyone noticed that most music videos now a days have nothing to do with the song almost? )

I think they shouldnt.

It is the persons choice wether they want to watch that video clip.
A 10 year old would already have very firm ideas about how a women should be treated etc and just because he sees a female in a tight skirt with HUGE boobs doesnt automaticly create the perception that all women are whores that strip of your cloths and get on their knees and suck your díck.
No no no, and even if the video does mould them, as you say above, they will soon learn why you shouldnt treat a women this way.

Il give you an example.
At my school [2nd year highschool] [boys and girls school] the majority of the music listened to is hip hop and r n b, This is the music where these video clips are most dominent.
But listen to this....
The boys that go out with the girls at my school mostly treat them with respect and dont view them as objects they can own.
Because with age comes smarts, and the average 14 year old knows that a person wont want to go out with him if he treats her like shit and expects sex every night oh no no no.
They will soon mould themselfs into what is socially acceptable because they want a girlfriend, and that want far outways the impact of a video clip on tv.

Im not trying to say that the clips dont influence the kids, they sure as hell do. But not to the extent of what you guys are implying.
They wont permanintly stuff a kid up and give him bad values.
And if you are any good a parents as you think you are you will be able to controll your kids no matter what media influences them.
I mean a kid isnt going to abanden their family and go of raping girls because a video clip says so.

These kids have commen sence and by saying they cant controll their own minds you are implying stupidity in them.
They are alot smarter than you give them credit for and are not so easily influenced.
