World To End 2012.

There were a shitload of ancient and not so ancient astronomers and psychics and soothsayers that predicted the world to end when it hit 2000 (not just y2k)~ and yet, nothing happened. Much like every other prediction of the end of civilization, I believe this one will come and go without any incident.
We'll just be left with the lastest idiot celebrities, be bombarded with more ridiculous reality TV shows ( I hope they die out by then, but hope only leads to disappointment).
If the worst happens, at least I don't have to worry about heart disease or any other such ailments. i WILL miss the notion of having my brain downloaded into a superior robot body <_<.

There always seems to be some crazy ass cult out there building underground bunkers for imminent doom. Bizarrely, they stock up on shitloads of firepower~ somehow even though they believe the wrath of whatever particular God they're bowing to is upon us, and only they know the world will be destroyed, they STILL need ridiculous amounts of guns, canons, c-4, just about any killing machines they can get their praying little hands on.
Makes you wonder. If they are the only one who will be saved because they are the only ones listening to their God and the rest of us are blind and ignorant and Hellbound, who are they going to be gunning down? Over-sized, radioactive, mutant cockroaches?

Though, to be honest the human race sees 'the end of the world' to be 'the end of human life'. I'm sure 'the world' itself will get along perfectly fine without us, it was here beforehand. The human race may cease to exist, but the planet will be just dandy.

And as for the mayan calendar, maybe 21st of dec 2012 is just when the last direct mayan decendant will die. >.>
