GPoints: 28 Rep Power: 3 | Will the new Clone Wars film change the way we look at clone troopers? The whole idea behind clone troopers dyeing and styling their hair to show individuality isn't something I support. Clone troopers were bred to be a no-nonsense military force, not an army of hairdressers. I understand that Lucas wants to show individuality in the clones, but I feel that is a trait that should only be shown in Clone Commando's.
Clone Troopers were originally meant to be stoic dispensible tools aiding in the fall of the CIS. This new Clone Wars film portrays them as self thinking individual soldiers.
This basically goes against everything the Kaminoans wired into the clones brains.
I understand this film is more appealing to a younger audience, but I don't see why Clones have to be this way in the film.
To someone that is just getting sucked into the star wars universe, this is going to be confusing, at least I think so. If they watch the films in order, once they get to ROTS, they should notice a dramatic change in the clones.
In AOTC, they are a no-nonsense military force. In the Clone Wars (film, not the TV series on Cartoon Network) they start becoming somewhat independent and able to think for themselves. Then in ROTS, they are back to their old ways of being stoic war machines mindlessly following every order given to them by the republic.
I might be the only one that feels this way, maybe everyone else likes this direction the clone troopers are taking in this film.
So, what do you think?
Is this film going to change the way Clone Troopers are viewed?

It's badly animated.
Over 70% of episode 3 was animated so I know they can do better than that.
And most likely not, as people will be too caught up in how bad the animation and voice acting is.

YOU JUST TOLD GEORGE LUCAS HE IS WRONG ABOUT STAR WARS, HE MADE IT MAN O.o. | Star Wars has become so big since the original trilogy, I doubt George Lucas can even name half the characters in the star wars universe. He's got thousands of employees turning out new characters, planets, vehicles, and ideas daily, there's no way he knows what's going on.
And you've got to understand how self thinking clone troopers are an abomination, you've played battlefront and battlefront 2, you know how the grand army of the republic is supposed to be.

Yeah that's more of how the droids were felt. Battlefront 2 however possessed very of individual of thought mines to the journals remember? Despite all of them bearing the same appearance the clone trooper narrating the story seemed to have his own opinion on matters, though he kept them to himself and followed orders.

Yes, but if I remember correctly, the narrating trooper was Commander Appo, clone commab=nder of the 501st legion, a very high ranking clone trooper. I can understand the clones further researched by the kaminoans having individual personalities, clones such as Commander Appo and Cody, ARC Trooper captains, and Clone Commando's, but standard infantry clones were minless slaves to the republic before order 66 was executed.

GPoints: 911 Rep Power: 12 | Hmm I suppose but also note what your mentioning seems like you're merely guessing that the Kaminoans would've done that and not to all of them. My favorite book series tends to have a very alternative mind set to the traditional set and order of military design, The Malazzan Book of the Fallen, and in it the soldiers abilities to think for themselves make them dangerous. That and the shit loads of explosives they use all the time... but yes free thought is what empowers them in the story. Without the ability to think for themselves they could fall sunder to easy ploys. However to back your thesis the Jedi Mind trick which only works on simple minds works quite easily on the Storm Troopers so it would seem they are mindless drones. HOWEVER it's all just hearsay seeing as Lucas Arts dictates the story not the fans.
