Is he PlayStation 3 really worth it?

My nephew wants one, and I should have enough cash to buy one soon, but I'm wondering, is it really worth it?
We've had Playstations, playstation 2, and an Xbox.
We also have a Wii. xD
He plays with the Wii once in a while, but with the playstations/xbox it seems like he got bored with them.
Whats so different about PS3 from the others?

It costs a lot, It has bluray, you don't have to pay for online access, some dif games. I recomend the Xbox 360 way worth it better online gameplay and worth the money. Won't get bored.

He doesn't do the online thing. I don't like him going online. xD

So you don't think the PS3 is worth it, correct?

It really is. Graphics are great! Also they went down in price.

Play station 3 is a great buy!

its a great buy compared to the xbox..whats the main reason people can say xbox is better than ps3 ONLINE PLAY thats all the xbox whores have...ps3 has online and offline play, the offline play is good and when you're bored you can fix yourself some popcorn and pop a blue ray movie in.. i assume your nephue is young and has small hands, thats another defect of xbox the controller is big as hell and hard to get a good grip of...sometimes when im tired i can play my ps3 with 1 hand thats how easy the controls are

The PS3 has much better graphics, and all new games that are only for that and the Xbox 360. But, an Xbox 360 costs less, and I personally think it is better because it has even better graphics, can play games like Halo, has way more features then a PS3, and you can go online on most games. If I were you, I would buy him an Xbox 360 instead, becuase I think he would like it more. Also, PS3 games are way more expensive.

okay, it all really depends on what your nephew likes. i don't mind the 360. i'll play it for arcade games, that's about it. most popular 360 games are shooters. i prefer the ps3 over the 360 because of the games you can play on the ps3, it's games on the PSN, and overall layout, capabilities, remote play, etc.

i won't be biased though - research on the video games and downloadable games on both systems, and see which system is better suitable for your nephew.

I got my PS3 on Craigslist ;)
Got a sick deal, $300 for an 80 gig with a few new games + an extra controller. :3

Oh and yes, its worth it. The graphics on this monster is...well, monstrous. I actually got my PS3 for the future games that come out for it (FF 13, FF 14, Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Age, etc.)

And going online is free, so long as you have a way to connect to the internet. (Ethernet cable or wireless)
