Actually Blu Ray was outselling HD-DVD by a long shot even before this. This is more like, the final nail in the coffin, then anything else.

I also heard that Microsoft is planning to have a blu-ray add-on to the 360. Something else to fork out for that system.

A few shop attendants are a little slow where I live, I asked if they sold blu-ray movies and she replied that they don't deal in those type of movies, lol!

In response to recent reports that the Xbox 360 is technically capable of supporting Sony's Blu-ray format--a topic that recently came up in a Japanese interview with Xbox executive Peter Moore--Microsoft has released a statement clarifying their formal position.

"Microsoft firmly stands behind the HD-DVD format as the best choice for our consumers," the press release reads.

But, Microsoft adds, the "future-proofed" Xbox 360 "has the flexibility to adapt to consumers' needs," such as the addition of the recently-announced external HD-DVD drive. "Current reports indicating that we have a back-up plan, which includes Blu-Ray support, are incorrect."

Microsoft adds that the company is "fully committed" to the HD-DVD format and has "absolutely no plans" to support formats like Blu-ray.

This press release was issued in response to Peter Moore's comments last week to Japanese site ITMedia:

"While we do plan on an external drive of some form, it is possible for us to adapt to future changes in the [next-gen DVD market] situation."

No idea what it's about.
Don't feel like reading but i doubt 360's going to get Blu-Ray.

yeah they'll just be loosing more money no money has been made for the xbox project as well as the halo project thats what i've heard
