So, I'm not religious at all. I'm also open minded about it, so I'm not against it in anyway.
All I know is, I really enjoy some christian music. Judge me if you must, but some of it sounds really pleasant, I'm not saying I enjoy every single christian song I hear, but I've heard at least 3 that I've really enjoyed.
I'm listening to By Your Side, from Wow 2010 hits or whatever. I dunno who sings it, but it's a good song I'd say.
the thing i don't like about christian music is that it's just so repetitive. every single song is a variation on "i love you jesus" or "i love you lord" or some bible verse set to music or a story in song about a woman who was abused by her husband who turned to god for comfort. i mean i guess you can say most secular music is either about sex, or love, or sticking it to the man, or how she says i am the one, even though the kid is not my son.
but at least in love songs you assume it's not all about the same person, whereas with christian music, it's just jesus and god over and over and over and over and i find the lyrics in most to be very repetitive (because a lot of them come straight out of the bible and they're a feared'a takin libertees with the good book)
Honestly, music is music. Most music has a meaning and when you actually listen to the words it makes you feel something. But for the most part, when it comes to just needing something to listen to so its not too quiet. Ill listen to anything, lol.
I've enjoyed some christian bands that went mainstream and weren't necessarily known as a "christian band". I agree that some christian music has too much "love you jesus" mumbo jumbo, but there are some good music out there.
All music is repetitive, rock - sex, drugs, rock n roll, i'm so angry rawr rawr
Rap - bitches n hoes and drugs, buying everything for my "wifey", i'm so thug
country - lost love, love, my truck, my dog, my wife, my grandaddy, yeehaw
etc etc
