I only say that because when witnessing my friends dealing with the mental health system, the psychiatrists as the *only* doctors able to prescribe any variety of psyche meds usually slap a patient on pills, and see them once a month for 15 minutes. Hardly effective.
A psychologist who can't prescribe meds, would be more into cognitive therapy and try and find a source of the problem with no meds. Sometimes helping people already on meds get off of them quicker. A lot people get jaded when they start seeing any doctor like that, but if you actually don't hate the person you're working with they can be a lot of help. My friend's psychotherapist told her that her parents were the most antagonistic beings in her life and wrote a letter to them telling them to leave her the hell alone about a lot of shit XD. | |
