Complete Fishing Guide

This Guide is based on experience with my latest fishing pure account, thus, it is aimed toward a fishing pure.

*Note: All market values are approximate and are based on values from the Grand Exchange as of Aug. 2008.

Level 1 - 20

East of Lumbridge, there is a fishing spot for crayfish. I suggest bringing a crayfish pot and fishing and dropping. You can also bank at the bank in Lumbridge.

Number of fish: 470
Approx. market value: 1,880gp
Number of trips (if banking): 18

Level 20 - 30

North East of Lumbridge, across the river, there are several fishing spots for river fishing. You will need a fly fhishing rod and feathers. You can get a rod at a fishing shop (there is one in Port Sarim) or the Grand Exchange. Feathers can be purchased at the Grand Exchange for approx. 5gp ea. or they can be collected at the chicken coup North East of Lumbridge. At this fishing spot, fish trout and drop, or bank at the Lumbridge bank.

Number of fish: 178
Approx. market value: 5,518gp
Number of trips (if banking): 7

Level 30 - 50

Fish at the same place for salmon and trout. After reaching 50, I suggest getting a Runescape membership, it will help greatly. While you could start to fish lobsters at Level 40, they are horribly slow until you reach level 50. Fly fishing is much quicker xp at the moment.

Number of fish: 1257 - 1760
Approx. market value: 54,560 – 90,540gp
Number of trips (if banking): 49 - 68

Level 50 - 60

Assuming you now have your membership, make your way over to Catherby. There are several fishing spots where you can use a lobster cage which can be bought at the Catherby Fishing Shop. Cage fish and bank at the Catherby bank.

Number of fish: 1915
Approx. market value: 517,050gp
Number of trips (if banking): 71

Level 60 - 68

Now you should start fishing tuna and swordfish. You can purchase a harpoon at the fishing shop, but a barb-tailed harpoon can be equiped so it takes up one less inventory (I suggest this method). Keep fishing at Catherby.

Number of fish: 3313 - 4142
Approx. market value: 501,182 – 1,702,882gp
Number of trips (if banking): 119 - 154

Level 68 – 80

You can now enter the fishing guild! North West of Catherby and West of the Seers Village, you can find the fishing guild. Inside are a fishing shop, a bank, and lots of fishing spots. I suggest continuing to fish swordfish and tuna until level 80. Even though you can fish sharks at 76, they are very slow, and most of the shark spots are monopolized by level 90+ fishers.

Number of fish: 13811 - 17263
Approx. market value: 1,898,9306,808,823gp
Number of trips (if banking): 494 – 617

Level 80 – 99

You have reached the home stretch! You are so close to reaching 99. Unfortunately, this will be the longest period of time. Stay at the fishing guild and fish sharks. This will be slow. But the pay off will be well worth it!

Number of fish: 100,440
Approx. market value: 97,929,000gp
Number of trips (if banking): 3588

Level 99+

Nice work! You have done it. From now on, you can fish for profit and profit alone. Hang out at the fishing guild and make bank!

Notes: I know my method was far from the quickest. It was based solely on my own fishing experience. There are other methods to make the process much quicker.

-Fishing Monk fish with a Net after completing Swan Song Quest is quick and profitable.
-Doing quests like Fishing Contest are easy xp
-Fly Fishing at higher levels (70-99) is known to be a quicker way, though less profitable
-Despite common belief, the trawler game is NOT a very good way to get xp
-Fish with friends! Carry on conversations while you fish.

I hope this guide helped. You don’t have to stick exactly to it, but I hope the numbers will prove useful for you. + Rep if it helped.
