Chapter 1b)
Gertrude's Cat Quest
To first get a kitten, you need to do Gertrude's Cat Quest.
Requirements:
No skills, quests, or quest points required!
Items: About 100gp, Doogle Leaves, a Bucket, Raw Sardine, and Milk. Getting Started
First off, speak to Gertrude in her house west of Varrock and just south of Juliet's house (from the Romeo and Juliet Quest). She says that she has lost her cat and that her sons may know where she is. Before you leave, be sure to pick up some Doogle Leaves from behind Gertrude's house, because you'll be needing them later on in the quest.
The Lumber Yard
You'll find both of Gertrude's sons Wilough and Shilop near a stall in the northeast corner of Varrock Square. Talk to them and ask if they have seen the Cat. They will tell you that they saw the cat in their "secret hiding place." However, if you ask them where their hiding place is, they'll refuse to tell you until you give them 100gp. The hiding place is inside the broken fence in the Lumber Yard just east of the Jolly Boar Inn (northeast of Varrock).
Once you find the Lumber Yard, you'll see an area enclosed by a fence. Climb over the Broken Fence on the southern side to get inside, and then head north to a ladder. You will find Gertrude's Cat upstairs. Try to pick it up and it will scratch you, taking 3 damage.
One Distressed Kitty...
First you'll find that the Cat is thirsty. Feed it a bucket of Milk to make it a bit happier, but it still seems upset. Pick the Cat up again to get scratched and to learn that it's hungry. Either fish for a Sardine in the Ocean, or buy 1 from the Port Sarim Fishing Shop south of Falador. Use the Doogle Leaves with the Sardine to get a Seasoned Sardine, and then feed it to the Cat.
Now go pick up the Cat once more, and you'll realize that it wants its Kitten. The Kitten should be in a box a little to the northwest from where you are, but it may be in another crate. Just search the boxes in the Lumber Yard until you find it. Remember that it can be in corners, but always inside the wooden fence. Once you've found it, the Kitten will appear in your backpack. Bring it to Gertrude's Cat and it will walk home. Go back to Gertrude for your reward. Congratulations, quest complete!
Rewards:
1 Quest Point, Stew, Chocolate Cake, 1525 Cooking exp, A Kitten, and the ability to buy additional Kittens for 100 gp each.
Chapter 2) Taking Care of Your Kitten
Okay, so you finally have a kitten. But what do you do now? As in real life, you need to feed your kitten. To do this, you use different types of fish on it. List of Kitten food:
* Raw Shrimp
* Raw Sardines
* Doogle Flavor Sardines
* Raw Anchovies
* Raw Trout
* Cooked Trout
* Raw Salmon
* Raw Tuna
* Cooked Tuna
* Raw Lobster
* Cooked Lobster (wow....)
* Bucket of Milk
You should feed your Kitten when you get a message saying "I think its hungry." If you ignore this, then another message appears, "I think it's really hungry!" If you do get this message, you should feed it right away or it might run away!! =O
Chapter 3) A Growing Kitten
Type -
How to get Kitten -
Buy a kitten from Gertrude for 100 gp. Gertrude is located just west of Varrock and south of Juliet's house. If you have the ring of Chaos (activated) you may choose the color. Cat -
Feed your kitten when it says it is hungry and give it attention occasionally. This will take 1-2 hours for most users (with the kitten following you around of course). Overgrown Cat -
Let your cat walk around with you for 5-6 hours, you do not need to feed it, but giving it attention at times is appreciated by the cat. Wiley Cat and Lazy Cat -
After completing the Rat Catchers quest, you'll be given the opportunity to make an Overgrown Cat into a Wily Cat by speaking to Felkrash in the Rat Pits. Wily Cats have heightened senses and abilities, and they need to get lots of exercise by chasing Rats, Butterflies or Kalphite Larva. If they don't get enough exercise, they will become a Lazy Cat. If your cat becomes lazy, you can train it again by taking it out, giving it exercise and catching Rats. Hell Kitten -
Same steps as Hell Cat, just do the quest part while still having a kitten. Hell Cat -
A Hellcat can be obtained during the Recipe for Disaster quest, after completing the Evil Dave part. All it requires is that you catch 7 Hellrats with your Cat, and then it will transform into a Hellcat... a sinister looking cat with sharp, pointy teeth! Any cat can actually become a Hellcat, and feeding it Milk will return it back to its original form.

Chapter 5) Hints and Tips
* Once you get a Cat or Overgrown Cat, you can go to West Ardougne and there is a Civilian there that you can trade your Cat or Overgrown Cat for 100 Death Runes. The Civilians are located on the path to The Underground Pass.
* Once in awhile your kitten/Cat will disappear. Do not worry it has only gone off to adventure around RuneScape, and do some training.
* ALWAYS leave one space open in your inventory, because if your kitten does wander off, and there is not an inventory space open your kitten will not have room to appear in your inventory and you will lose your kitten.
* While your kitten is in your inventory or bank, it will not get hungry or need attention, and the growing progress is paused.
* You can speak to your cat if you have a Amulet of Catspeak acquired from the Icthlarin's Little Helper quest.
* You cannot enter the Wilderness with your cat.
