Help with Xbox.

My retarded roommate bought a cheap used Xbox. When he turns it on, it just goes to the clock thing and the control does nothing. I told him the controller was probably broke. He's on his way now to get a new controller.

I haven't owned a game console since NES, so I don't have a clue what for. Do any of you guys know what could be wrong?

If it does nothing, I can also assume the controller is broken. If a new one doesn't work I think you are screwed. =P

Yeah it was the controller. My roommate is dumb. (Like mentally disabled facility dumb. I do live in a home for those types of people). He got a new controller or whatever and it works.
