GPoints: 103 Rep Power: 0 | Verizon? Modem? $$? So, I got my cousin's computer and I tried to get internet on it with a router but it didn't work. So, I was thinking to get another modem attached to the other computer so I can get internet from it. But, the question is can I just get another modem from a friend/store, plug it in, and get internet access or is there a special step I have to do to get internet from that modem? Post links/guides to help me, please. Or, anything straight from your brain.

GPoints: 275 Rep Power: 122 | it depends how you have your own internet setup. you're trying to plug in another computer into your already existing network?
you only need 1 modem, ever. you can either just plug the computer in by ethernet cable or by a wireless card and if you network is secured enter the credentials and you should be ready to go.

Also, buy a router.
It makes everything easier.

GPoints: 275 Rep Power: 122 | you modem must be really really old cause mine is a wireless modem/router combo. if its just only a modem you can only have 1 connection unless you get a router to split the connection(s)
i don't think you can plug in any additional modem from any unused jack to a modem/computer.

its PPPoE so i believe you need login details for verizon though even though i never entered them on my own router but i could if i wanted to.

GPoints: 103 Rep Power: 0 | Yes, I stuck there too. I don't know what my dad used for the username or password so I need to call them.
Also, its a linksys router and I bought it so I don't think I can call a verizon nerd for that...But, can I?
