GPoints: 3,859 Rep Power: 5 | A Question... What exactly is a render in this case? It doesn't look (I don't think?) like people are doing what I would call rendering so can someone explain what exactly we're discussing here?

GPoints: 9,647 Rep Power: 15 | Though some people are using stocks and calling them renders, a short answer is that a render is an object that has been separated from it's background for other uses.

Rendering is to give an image a realistic look; Apply shading, lighting, and all proper components to an image to incorporate it into an environment.
Then of course there is rendering relating to creating images in 3d software.
CUTTING OUT IMAGES IN PHOTOSHOP IS NOT RENDERING!
