Yeah, it was a school assignment.
It's short, and I had trouble finding rhymes.
So it's not so great, but here goes.
It needed:
- Repetition
- Assonance
- Alliteration
- Rhyme
- Metaphor or simile
- 15 lines, exactly
Ode to the Moon
I drift my fingers through the clear,
Capturing the last of the night
And watch as it drips, slowly back,
To form the most beautiful sight.
I remember the silvery glow,
So generous and kind it would be
To offer relief to the worst of days,
And to let the mind roam free.
The water glimmers and shimmers
Like five diamonds together as one.
Flick! Splash! Away with the mirror,
As the moon shall soon cease to the sun.
