Ode to the Moon

Yeah, it was a school assignment.
It's short, and I had trouble finding rhymes.
So it's not so great, but here goes.

It needed:
  • Repetition
  • Assonance
  • Alliteration
  • Rhyme
  • Metaphor or simile
  • 15 lines, exactly

Ode to the Moon

I drift my fingers through the clear,
Capturing the last of the night
And watch as it drips, slowly back,
To form the most beautiful sight.

Clair de lune…

I remember the silvery glow,
So generous and kind it would be
To offer relief to the worst of days,
And to let the mind roam free.

Clair de lune…

The water glimmers and shimmers
Like five diamonds together as one.
Flick! Splash! Away with the mirror,
As the moon shall soon cease to the sun.

Clair de lune…

The stanzas flow very nicely, and I like the line scheme. One thing, though; the single lines work when the poem is read silently, but I'm not entirely sure how they're supposed to sound when read out loud. Right now, that breaks the flow of the poem for me, but only when it's read out loud. Other than that, it's very well done.
