For an english project I had to write a poem having to do with the sun, this is what I came up with, I think that its just ok, I've written better.
Opposite

Fire always burning
You reach out and touch the Earth.
How can you be so opposite?
You leave us in the night
Burn us throughout the day
Slowly killing us
Yet we need you to survive.
You are our enemy and ally
All in one.
But isn’t that just like everyone?
Too much of you is dreadful
Too little is dire.
You may act like a friend
And this you may be.
But don’t start to pretend
For I can see.
Never will we have a conversation
Where we are eye to eye.
You seem to use your power
To make us cower at the sight of you.
But I am not afraid
And I will not evade
While others may run and hide
I, for one, will not abide.
Your power is immense
And we must always use good sense.
For, unless we are careful
You may find a way
To make us pay.
But friends, there is no need to worry,
As you can see it is in no hurry.
The effect may happen slowly at first
Yet soon enough you will start to realize
That slowly, but surely
We, not it, are causing our own demise.
So take my advice,
Or just maybe,
We will end up, paying the price.
