It took a few nights, but I finally found inspiration.
Zombie’s Poem
We bravely saw the end begin,
The status quo apocalypse -
Where funeral pyres ran till dawn
On faulty urban paradise,
And dying memoirs of our lives
Gave rise to desperation.
Through desolate moralities
Strewn carelessly around,
As heaven fell with thunder-cracks,
And deadened skies took back the dusk
We clasped our hands and braced ourselves
To sail the acid sea of sloth
That spread through modern life
And all their hordes that staggered there
Were nothing but a pill-popped pest,
A quivering needle held too tight
Then quickly thrown away.
With our backs pressed to fend them off,
The nightshade buzz was laced with fear.
Squeezing savage at our sides,
We too defiant glared,
But without face the mob once surged
And whisked you out of reach.
I saw you, screaming as you died
They tore away the skin you wore,
An empty bed of former truths
That once cut through the vicious net
That now bit into your soft flesh
But even once I ran away,
Amorphous crowd in tow
I glanced back one last time and caught
A lingering trace of sky-burned eyes
That rushed me back from mind-fucked dust
The hint of blissful prodigy
Hidden a dripping razor’s edge
From the loathing army’s line
Capitalized, a guise from lower case
The wandering Zombie in the night.
