Spotted not too far in the distance-
A modern Adonis approached.
Scrumptious pink lips parted just slightly,
A cigarette between his fingers
Lifted casually towards his face,
The light casting intriguing highlights
Upon his silhouetted portrait.
He paused only an arm's reach away,
And I impulsively asked for a light.
As the fire lit, I felt a chill;
Just the single striking of the match
Was the powerful spark of desire
I had been searching desperately for.
As if psychic forces were at work,
His piercing eyes gazed into my own,
And his fingers moved quite gracefully
From the very top of my shoulders
Down and around in one smooth motion
Finally landing within my hand.
Spiraling from his grasp to the ground,
The light dimmed and the smoke grew higher,
A fog swirling about our bodies-
The butt landed nearly silently;
The flame flickered, then swiftly went out-
Leaving us engulfed in the darkness.

And down she falls
faster and faster until
the ground decides to meet her.
It comes quickly, yet slow enough.
Such a feeling
as flying for a few minutes
in a bliss so sweet it burns
from her chest with passion.
Never has she felt such joy
it sparked inside
like a fresh match getting life,
only for it to be put out.
It happened silently;
no screaming for her.
And the happiness that bubbled up
the instant it happened...
She didn't cry
or regret it,
instead she smiled because
finally she got to fly.

it's times like these when pictures
become more than just pictures.
they become stories,
tales of old and new,
beginning and end,
life and death.
you see the eyes,
but you don't see the tears they've cried,
you don't see the horrible
shit they've seen.
you don't see the brokenness
that they have witnessed;
the aftermath of death and decay,
blood on my hands.
you see the mouth,
but you don't hear the words that have escaped
those lips.
you don't see the double-edged sword
that is my tongue.
you don't hear the horrible things i've said,
the comments, words, remarks,
meaningless things that i wish i could take
back.
you see the ears,
but you don't hear the horrible things they've heard,
the awful, God-forsaken words
that i wouldn't say to my best enemies
or my worst friends.
you don't hear the yells and screams,
the cries for help,
the cries that we too often ignore.
you see the chest,
but you don't see the heart.
you don't feel the way it beats,
the way it bleeds,
the way it cries out in times like these,
because i don't know how to carry on.
you see the skin,
but you don't feel the heat,
the cold,
the tears,
the hands,
the pain
that it has been through.
you might see it,
but you don't know it.
because this is me, and i am not you,
but we are all together, somehow,
in some strange, bizarre,
fucked-up way.
i don't deserve anything.
i have no certificates, framed and nailed to my wall,
demanding your attention and respect.
i have no important letters from big names,
congratulating me for a job well done
on something i probably didn't put much effort into.
i have very little to show for who i am,
who i was,
or who i will be.
i just have a record of wrongs
and a short list of things i've done right,
to which i hold onto very closely.
so if a picture is all you ever get from me,
please know that there is more than meets the eye.
please know that i am in pain,
and that i am broken, tattered, and torn.
please know that one day these eyes will close forever,
these lips will never speak another word,
these ears will never hear another sound,
and this skin will know nothing but death and decay.
but until then,
please keep loving me.
because it is the only thing that gives me life.
pray that our hearts go on.

GPoints: 6,767 Rep Power: 15 | For some reason the last few lines of the poem weren't added in. Is it too late for me to edit them in, it is the part that specifically talks about the match, lol
