| I lean back against the wall
School is back in session
Hyperventilating teenage girls sling there arms around one another.
The acne ridden boys are slapping each others backs and searching out lockers.
I sit at the table, my husbands family are filing into the room.
Grandparents in the lead suffocating every child in the elderly bosoms.
They reach out to handle me into this awkward embrace.
Scrambling, I am out of my seat in seconds, heading to the kitchen
Claiming, forks and food are in order.
My husband stands in front of me
Questioning my behavior. Personal Space.. does no one get that?!
My daughter is one today.
She has chocolate cake on her face
and a sagging diaper.
She reaches up and I am pulling her into my arms
She smells like lotion, sweets and other peoples arms.
Nestling my head into her warm neck, baby hairs
Tickling my cheek... This isn't so bad after all
