I'd recommend Bag of Bones by him. It's not in your face scary, but it is creepy in a way that only King can produce.

Happy Fun Ball is pretty messed. I can't remember the author, but it made me freaked out. :P

The Demonata series by Darren Shan.
The Cirque Du Freak series by Darren Shan.

Oh, and it's a small known fact the Roald Dahl did some horror stories, try his short 'The Land Lady'
you can find them on google in pdf online versions.

The Demonata series by Darren Shan.
The Cirque Du Freak series by Darren Shan. | Just saying I've read both of these series all the way through (besides Demonata that one still has books coming out) and didn't find them scary or creepy more of just a young fantasy although the Demonata does go pretty gory

All those authors write about murders, mysteries, and they're really good, thrilling, bone chillers, and suspenseful. As far as personal preference on books, I've read most of them and all are extremely well written.

Also "The Silence of the Lambs" by Thomas Harris is another book I enjoyed though not exactly very creepy.
