| Dark Sector (xbox 360) Console: Xbox 360 Story (6/10:
The story line is very long and hard to stay with, at least for me. Your character is a military operative who has to do.. Something. Really, that's all I came up with, the fellow operatives who speak to you via walkie-talkie tell you of your mission but it's really based on things happening that you don't know much about. In short, I never felt into it. Controls (8.5/10):
The controls are very similar to FPS, you can switch weapons with the direction pad and activate your flash light. The left trigger aims with your weapon and the right trigger fires, R1 button throws your glaive and L1 button throw grenades. Side note, I don't like the position of the grenades. Running is simply the A button which also lets you hide behind cover. The keypad is the same as CoD, X=Reload, A=Run, B=Hit, Y is an energy shield later on. Graphics (8/10:
The graphics weren't horrible, but I found myself stuck in a room for 15 minutes the size of a small house and had to raise the brightness all the way to the max in order to see a ladder leading to the next area.
Maybe that's just how they wanted it, seeing as they named the game "Dark Sector"
The kill scenes were brutal though when you use your glaive to slice heads off enemies or remove their limbs. All in all, I give it an 8.
Sound/Music (5/10) There wasn't much music in this game, if any, but there always were the sounds of monsters hiding around corners and pretty consistent gunfire noise which u eventually start to drone out with your ipod because it gets annoying. Replayability (3/10):
This game has some replayability to it if you want to get achievements but personally, I won't touch it again. Once is enough as I'm sure you'll get annoying of the lack of direction this game gives you. Multiplayer (5/10):
Multiplayer is somewhat fun, consisting only of 2 mini game types which are somewhat fun but there are many other great titles worthy of online play, this is a game that was based on the storyline mode. Game-Play (7/10):
The game play was quite fun, Bosses are always very difficult and you must learn how to use your surroundings and the elements. However constantly you will find yourself not knowing where to go. Often you must think outside the box and use your glaive to charge it with an element of fire or lighting and having to sprint across the game to use it on something before it's charge runs out. If you want a game that tests your wit along with your skills, this is one. Overall Score (6/10): I rated this game based on the criteria above, It's not a horrible game but it does have it's moments of being frustrating, but it's on same at EB games for $4.99 and that's a steal if you want 12 hours if not more of storyline solo action. |
