GPoints: 33 Rep Power: 2 | Final Fantasy X-2: PS2 (7/10) A Little Backstory For You: Final Fantasy X-2 is the sequel to Final Fantasy X, which was the first Final Fantasy on the PlayStation2.
Final Fantasy X was the journey of two characters, Yuna and Tidus. However, Tidus is 'dead'. There's no other way to put it without making it a massive spoiler. Console(s):
PlayStation2. Story (5/10):
Our little shy, sweet Mary Suena, I mean Yuna has ditched the kimono and jumped into an outfit with half a skirt and a microphone. Um...what?
The opening begins with the worst song ever. The singer sounds horrifying, unless you are playing the Japanese version. It's complete with sparkly freezeframes, not-so-funky dance moves and lots of grunts from our secondary characters.
The rest of the story is basically surrounding Yuna searching for three dead people. Two she's never known in her life and her love, Tidus.
Oh, and someone is pregnant. Except...she doesn't look pregnant.
You don't play the story much, just watch it. It's...a few steps foward...CUTSCENE! A few steps foward...BATTLE!
There were some good cutscenes and a few interesting battles, therefore this section get's a 5/10 from me.
Controls (7/10):
The camera is set at a decent angle. You can't switch it around though, but judging by the poor quality of the Kingdom Hearts camera, I think it's better off like that.
You lead the main character, Yuna (one exception: after the beginning cutscene you control Rikku for a little while.) around a field map. It's not really explorable by any means. There's invisible walls to stop you throwing yourself off the edge after a long day.
You can finally jump onto ledges, at last, by pressing the Circle button. This is quite helpful to reach out of place treasure chests to gain extra prizes...which you never end up using.
On the note of treasure chests, whacking X while your near one causes Yuna to kneel down and open it. ^_^ Graphics (7/10):
The graphics are better than Final Fantasy X, though, only slightly better.
At some parts during speech in the English version, the character will be speaking English but the mouth movements are mouthing the Japanese words.
The full motion videos are stunning though. Better quality than the previous Final Fantasys, by far. Sound/Music (2/10):
The music is horrible.
The beautiful music that was produced in Final Fantasy X is no more. Rikku's theme is some pop song. Real Emotion is some pop song. Everything else...is some pop song.
If you're going to buy and play this game, keep the sound down as low as you can.
The battle music is annoying after you've gotten towards the ending.
The only decent song is played during the opening credits - Eternity. It's just like it's name, it lasts for an eternity. Dx Replayability (6/10):
The only reason you'd most likely replay it is for the Perfect ending. You have to obtain 100% for that, which you cannot do during your first playthrough, I believe.
After you've completed the game once and seen the ending, you have the option of starting on New Game+. Items, dresspheres (job classes basically), Grids you gather, accesories and abilities all transfer over. Anything else does not.
The game is worth replaying. There's alot of optional stuff to be done every Chapter. Online/Multiplayer (if any) (#/10):
This game is not available online or is a multiplayer. Game-play (7/10):
The battle system is turn based. You've got the gauge. When it fills up, you can select an action. Tha action may occur now, or once a secondary gauge has filled up.
Final Fantasy X-2 introduces Dresspheres. There are several default dresspheres. Thief, Songstress, Gunner and Warrior. You obtain more during gameplay.
Each character, Yuna Rikku and Paine, have one suoer-dressphere. Paine has the only optional one, you HAVE to obtain Yuna and Rikku's to go foward at some point during the game.
The Field Map and the Battle Map are different. The Battle Map changes to suit the area in which you are fighting. Neither are really all that explorable. Minigames (2/10)
Ew. Minigames.
Blitzball makes it's return. Yet again, it's optional. Completely optional. No forced matches. It's the most painful thing ever...with the exception of Lightning Dodging. ¬.¬
Com. Spheres are used to communicate with the outside world. It's very frustrating making it face the correct directing to get another cutscene and you have to do it for the Perfect Ending.
There is a first person shooting game but...honestly...the camera angle is horrible in it. I'd recommend skipping that if you do buy this game. Overall Score (37/60):
There's some fun graphic flaws in this. For example, while riding on the lift to get from one platform to another, Yuna's half-skirt flies up revealing very short-shorts. ;)
The game is fairly long. It'd be better to buy it and then sell it on if you don't like it, unless you can rent it for more than a week.
It doesn't have many plot twists. You can tell most of the story before get to the Final Chapter.
There are a selection of endings that you can get, each of which you have to fulful come criteria to get. There's the Bad Ending, the Good Ending and the Perfect Ending.
It's the type of game in which you either like it, or you don't.
You don't really need to buy Final Fantasy X to understand this game either, there's alot of plot summaries available online and the story is pretty much explained

GPoints: 1,031 Rep Power: 3 | You were a lot nicer than me on this game. I thought the battle system was nice, but everything else in the gameplay was terrible. I would write a review, but I wouldn't feel that it is right to review something I couldn't even finish without getting sick of it.

GPoints: 33 Rep Power: 2 | Some parts of it I really, really hated.
Others, I really enjoyed.
I've never fully completed the game though, to be honeat. The Disk I have freezes at the last battle and won't let me complete it.
I've seen the beginning about ninety thousand times though. o_o

GPoints: 22 Rep Power: 1 | I'm glad to finally meet other people who don't think this game is the best thing since sliced bread. I for one, attempted to replay it and came to the conclusion that it wasn't honestly worth my time. I bought it used and it got traded in shortly after. Some of the minigames were so painful to play through.. I hate boy/girl bands and their music. Only interesting thing to make me chuckle was the Al Bhed translating further and the costume dress sphere.

GPoints: 33 Rep Power: 2 | I liked the dresspheres system, a little, working out what everything looks like and what's the best.
But once you get the ULTIMATE MASCOT! Dressphere...there's no point in the Dressphere system since you're not going to use anything else. =/

GPoints: 20 Rep Power: 0 | To be honest, the only thing that somewhat interested me was the battle system, and the Dress sphere system, I wasn't interested in completing the game 100%, and I was somewhat disappointed in the ending, since the true ending is the X-2 Last Mission expansion in japan. I loved that.
If it was connected to a total different story, I would have loved it even more.

FFX was good for a reason, it had a good story.
This, on the other hand, had a shit story and it was all 'LETS GET NEW DRESSES! I mean, LETS GET NEW DRESS SPHERES BECAUSE WE'RE WOMEN AND WE LOVE DRESSES!'.
