inFamous (PS3),9.4/10

Console:Exclusively for PS3
Super-hero games can be brilliantly executed or can be a complete waste of time, like most of the Spidey games for PC.More often than not, it’s the latter, with some greedy comic book franchise cashing into the hype of a Hollywood release. Somewhere in between is the rare kind of game that’s done with heart. Clichéd, yes, but that’s how I’d describe InFamous.

I was quite anxious to get my hands on the game as it looked very promising.I was so desperate that I struck a deal with my friend.I get the game and he lets me borrow his PS3 for a while.I was actually surprised he accepted it.Lets get on with the review....

Story (9.3/10):
An engrossing storyline with really interesting characters.inFamous follows the story of Cole......a free running courier,oh yeah.He couriers sensitive packages for umm....let's say questionable clientele-
the last one destroyed the city. but waking up in a devastated, smoldering city isn't so bad if there's electricity coursing through your body...needless to say endowing you with super-powers. But we soon discover there are others and they are not very friendly.

Controls (10/10):

???Seriously what am I supposed to mention here?

Graphics (9.0/10):

Everything is detailed quite well and the developers have done a nice job of bringing the devastated city to life(although most of the people are dead anyway). The explosions are absolutely mind-blowing.The most stunning areas were the sewers or say gutters.I have a special affinity for them. But seriously, they are nicely done with murky water and creepy shadows that successfully create an eerie environment.
There are a number of visual glitches, many jagged edges and the cut-scenes were not satisfactory. All that said, overall graphics were satisfactory.

Sound/Music (8/10):
Great soundtrack, fits neatly with the game.Ambient noise and sound effects are pretty solid.Great voice acting.
Replayability (8.5/10):
Took me approximately 1 week to go through both the evil and good storyline averaging 3-5 hours per day.All that and I still have to collect the Blast Shards and the Trophies,

Game-play (10/10):
Infamous is an open world game, like the Grand Theft Auto series without the cars. Cole sticks to any surface, vaulting and climbing buildings, running across rooftops. Once you’ve unlocked moves like hover, and grind, you can blaze across the city like a freestyle skateboarder.

A devastated Empire City forces you to make decisions at every turn. Throughout the game you are faced with Karma moments, where you can either do good or evil. Every time you reach one of these moments, the game pauses and Cole takes stock of the situation: Do you distribute the precious food drops to the people, or do you keep it all for your self?

Do you stop a poison from being poured into the water system, risking infection, or do you destroy it from a distance, saving yourself, but killing others? It’s these decisions that make the game worthwhile. Each decision has its own story arc, unravelling unique missions and cut scenes.

Cole physically changes depending on which side he’s on, good gives his powers a blue hue, while evil gives off a red glow. Maybe it’s a bit too black and white, but on a macro level, it makes a big difference, adding to the replay value.

It never gets boring.

Overall Score (9.4/10):

Definitely worth a buy.

could have been better, and also way to much hype because at the time it was one of 3 notable ps3 exclusives.

7.5-8/10
