Guide to the Q & A Section of Gaming Gutter

Disclaimer: This guide was written to both amuse and enlighten. Also, common sense isn't so common anymore.
What type of questions should go in the Questions and Answers section? The ONLY questions you should be asking here are those related to the website. If you have a Neopets question, go to the neopets section. If you have a Gaia question, go to the gaia section. If your question doesn't fall under any of gaming gutters categories, try General Discussion or Spamsville.
Is there an FAQ that I should read prior to submitting a question in the Q & A?
Are there listings of prior questions posted?
But of course youngling/oldbie there is... Actually, there are 2 sections to look in.
There is the Golden Questions - Gaming Gutter section. Where the truly important questions lie there answered for your eyes to gaze upon and your brain to take in.
Why are there two different sections?
Beats me, its how the Admins and Mods chose to do it. Don't question, just nod your head and go on to the next question of this guide. It's safer that way for you and I both. Trust me.
Do I have to use a certain code when posting a question?
It would greatly help if you do use a certain one within your thread title. It allows those whom you want to read and answer it do so.
What are the codes?
[s] = Staff (Admins, Mods, Smods)
[G] = General (Anyone may answer)
[u] = Urgent
Can the codes be mixed?
Yes. Example: [S/U] or [S,U]
Will I get an infraction for abuse of the Urgent code?
Umm, that would be a 10-4 good buddy. You could get an infraction should you abuse it or if the question isn't really an urgent one. Keep this in mind prior to placing it up.
Can I pose a question to staff in a certain section within the Q&A?
I don't see why not. If you want to do this go for it. But, please use coding like this: [S – Graphics]. That way its going to get the Graphics staff's attention should you be trying to get someone in that area to answer your query.
Are there such things as stupid questions?
Depends, did you read the FAQ? Did you look back on prior questions posed in the Q&A? If you answered yes to both of those. Then you should be fine. If not, double check both of those places to see if your question has been answered already by our wonderful staff or other members here in GG.
Ok, I checked those places and saw that the question I want to ask isn't any of those areas. So, I wrote up my query. How long 'til I get an answer?
Be patient. There is no set time limit on questions answered unless you placed up an urgent one. If you continuously bump your thread; You could land an infraction for spamming.
I have a question that pertains to someone elses question. Can I add my question to their thread?
No. Its a good idea to wait until after that question has been answered and then you can post your own question with the proper coding.
Someone answered my question, but I don't understand it. Can I ask for clarification?
Yes, you may. If you don't understand someones answer due to their wording, let them know in the thread and they should be able to help you out with a clearer answer.
My question has been answered! Yay! What is the etiquette used to thank the person for giving me the answer I was looking for?
Give them +Rep! Don't type “Thank You” in the thread. You may however use the Thanks button in addition to the + Rep button.
No one has answered my question... Not even staff! And it has x amount of page views; What should I do?
Depending on the coding you used... It could take awhile. Don't get disheartened. Give it at least 72 hours (my general rule of thumb). If no one has answered it by then, PM a Mod to see if they can help you. But, do not harass them every 2 hours! Patience is your best friend.
I want to close my thread since my question has been answered and I can't close it. How do I do that?
PM a Mod (Mrs. Morris is the Q&A Mod) and link them the thread to your question asking them to close it. Do this politely. Remember, you catch more flies with honey then with vinegar.
What if I want to answer someone's question?
That's wonderful! Glad you want to help a fellow GG'er. So, yes you can answer someone's question. But, only if their thread title has the [G] in it. Which again [G] means General/Anyone may answer. Just be sure to be polite and answer the question to the best of your ability.
I answered someone's question, then someone answered after me. Is that against the rules?
Depends.
If they are correcting an answer you gave, then its a no. Don't be offended by this!
If they are just agreeing with you, then yes. Its spamming in a way.
