All these links contain samples of Members giving out rep for sining up for a site/doing some little things, but as a matter of fact, they're giving out more rep then I have received for either of my guides/my 3 pages long PC thread + the pets I've priced through PM's

Seeing my sig you know that I did the advertising thig for Bex also...

Now my question:

Is this really how you want it to be? I thought rep should be something that you get for being helpful around the site... So why the hell should I be helpful when I get more rep for pressing a singup link or putting an image in my sig then pricing an account for a complete noob who is also very unlikely to rep me because we are not allowed to ask for rep....


None of these people will give their full rep for a helpful thread but use their rep power to achieve their own goals...

And I'd like the staff to answer this because I'M really not that interested in any kind of discussion about this matter...

How much rep a user has really isn't all that important anyways, as long as the user doesn't have 0 or red reputation. It's more important for distinguishing bad members than it is good members. And usually the people just trying to get a few rep from those advertisement threads, aren't going to get very far on gaming gutter if they're not honest *really* reputable people.

So, right now, this is not something that will be changed, because users need something to offer for when other members help them out. For the people asking people to sign up at other sites, those users are helping the original poster out, and the only thing they really have to offer is rep points. Otherwise, no ones going to do it out of the goodness of their heart or something. :P

So yes, it is a more skeezy way of getting points, but it's not something that will be changed, because the rep is being offered to them because they helped someone out.
