Interested in starting a site/service similar to gaia and np

Im not sure if this is the correct section but if it is not i apollogize.

Well ive been on gaia for a few years now, same with neopets. I love both sites, they are two very cool places/games to hang out in. Another thing ive noticed is that Gaia, although 'improving' is losing its touch i would say. Its a very nice site its just that the moderator's and staff are a bit shoddy and sometimes even slow. Then i got to thinkin, I can do better than this site. But theres where help is needed. I have 0 skill in webcreation and flash and all that. The only programming i know is just enough for a small hack. All i have is an idea of how the finished project will be and how much it would pwn the shit out of anything currently out. Basically im looking for any experienced people that would want to get together with me and attempt working on this game.

That is quite the idea there. I would help out if I knew anything of coding/web languages aside from minor HTML. Sounds like it would turn out nicely if you could find the people.

Just curious, what kind of game are youthinking. Neopets is about having multiple pets and Gaia is having a single avatar. Which one would you be doing? Or a variation of both? Or neither one?

It would be kinda cool to be able to have a pet and a person and have them both in one single avatar.

Pretty much it would be a somewhat combination of the two. Ill give a basic outline of the game.:

This would be a game with all the basic properties of gaia. Gold, items, forums, games, and something similar to Gaia Towns. It would have the monthlies, a market etc. But then it would also have the neopets factor in it. You would instead of just having an avi, an avi AND a pet. You could get items for the pet, train the pet, level up the pet, and watch it grow, or die without proper care. The avi and the pet would always be together. Each post in the forums gets you gold/experience for both you and your pet. Then there would be a RPG aspect like Gaia Towns, where you could walk around and chat etc with you and your pet. But ontop of that you could challenge people to battles. And while the avvies fight, so do the pets. The pets attacks would be done by a cpu and depending on the stats, equips etc one pet would win. It would be the same for avvies but there would be human interaction involved.

Sounds like an awesome idea. I like the RPG aspect and having the pets actually able to die. If you get started and need help with anything non graphics/programming I would be glad to help. Too bad I don't have skills in this stuff :(

This has been done to death, my friend. You will fail. You will always fail. Now, I have all the scripts for a complete online game, from registration to item system (a very good one, I might say. You can assign ANY function to any item, and every item can have unlimited functions (this ranges from giving the user +100 money, to deleting his account. whatever you want)) Character/pet creation and a battledome. Usershops. But I don't run a site, and you know why? Because even if I would just have to assign small changes to have a complete site, I stopped before I actually got to the practical part. you will fail, especially because you can't code. I mean good coders have an 80% chance of giving up, and you. Now, that's just stupid.

Plus, why would anyone want to do the work for YOUR site?

fail at THIS. Look, I was gonna make a gaminggutter petgame before, and I really just had to do small things to finish it, and I gave up. So I am speaking from experience that you, and furthermore probably most of the other people who will try, will, in fact, fail.

However, once it's up and running you can always kick my kneecap and laugh at me, right?

I wouldnt resort to that but i do appreciate what your saying, maybe if you would have said it in a less bluntly stated way i would not have recieved it as an insult. I do appreciate your advise though.
