Okay, heres the skinny:
AutoIt is a very flexible and easy to use language that includes a load of functions. Unfortunately, it is now being classified as a virus, and all programs made with it are viruses as well.
This is not the case. Virus protectors pick it up for most likely two reasons:
- Some dumb@$$ decided to use it for an extremely malicious purpose, and got it marked, OR
- its being picked up because of the UPX packer AutoIt uses to make the programs smaller. The UPX program used is also used by virus makers to make the viruses smaller. It is in no way a bad thing using the UPX Packer, but it is unfortunate virus makers also use it, getting AutoIt marked.
Why should I care? I have used and loved AutoIt for almost a year now, and most of my programs are coded with it.
This is also a risk. People can now make actual viruses with AutoIt, and say the same as above, masking their maliciousness. If you find a program that has the Worm (AutoIt.es) (or w/e) tagged onto it, PLEASE SEND THE LINK TO ME, and I will be happy to get the source from the creator and look it over. IF YOU ARE GOING TO POST AUTOIT PROGRAMS (compiled), then please PM me with the source code.
