@Goog - from what I can remember, you'll need 156 str to wear a Monarch Shield, which is the most common 4 open socket/runeword such as Spirit. I've been dumping points into Str like crazy so I can get the equip requirements out of the way early.
Other than that, don't bother putting anything into dex, you won't need any. I'm not sure about the Vit/Energy though... I'll do some digging on some other forums to see if I can find anything.
