Diablo 2 MFing Guide

This is your basic MFing walk-through/guide for Diablo 2 using a pure Blizzard/Cold sorc

The Gear

Note:The gear doesn't really matter. You can wear anything and still MF,I generally build up my equipment as I go. It's possible to MF totally naked and still pull through. The only thing MFing requires is the ability to avoid taking damage at all cost.


Primary Gear:

• Harlequin Crest Shako
• Skullder's Ire Russet Armor
• War Traveler Battle Boots
• Chance Guards Chain Gloves
• Goldwrap Heavy Belt
• 2x Nagelring Ring
• The Oculus Swirling Crystal
• Spirit(Runeword) Monarch Shield
• an amulet with any % of magic find

Secondary Gear:

• Blade of Ali Baba Tulwar
• Rhyme(Runeword) shield or Splendor(Runeword) Shield

Inventory:

• Gheed's Fortune Grandcharm
• Tome of TP
• Tome of ID
• any other charm with % of MF on it.
• resist all charms

The Merc

Note: I'm using an Act 2 Nightmare, Defensive Merc.
Usage: I've pretty much become lazy and use him to kill everything. His main usage was to help distract Andy, clear out the Countess's area, and help with the Summoner. He can become a hassle if you're trying to kill Mephisto the "safe" way.
Gear:

• Eth Insight CV
• Eth bugged Fortitude
• Tal Rasha's Mask w/ P amethyst gem. (Until I can put Andarial's Visage on him)

The Hacks/Progs

Note: D2Loader and WardenWatcher are the only two that are required.


Red Vex and It's Plugins:

• Magnet. This helps you to automatically pick things up of value. Very helpful if you're in a Baal run.
• Stealth. This pretty much make you invisible to your friends and other people.
• Condom. Main usage is to automatically feed you and your merc potions.
• WardenWatcher (Aww 1.0) For whenever Blizzard decides to turn the wardens back on. Wardens are what detect the usage of Maphacks and other illegal third party scripts and what not.

D2 Loader and It's Plugins:

• ATConfig.dll... AutoTeleport configurations
• MMConfig.dll... Shows monsters and missles on the map.
• AutoTeleport OR mMap.dll... AutoTeleport points you in the direction of where to go, mMap.dll reveals the entire map. I generally use AutoTeleport because you don't time out, and Durance 2 is a bitch when having to pick between one door or the other.

The Bosses and how to tackle them

Andariel and Mephisto are the two main MFing bosses. Later on people turn to The Countess, The Summoner, and Pindle for added bosses. I generally stick with this set up in order:

1. Andariel
2. The Countess
3. The Summoner
4. Mephisto

(I'm leaving any otheres out right now because I generally do those with a Pally.)

• Andariel. She's found in Act 1. She's also the major minor boss for this area. You will need the Catacombs Level 2 WayPoint to make the run quick and smooth. To access her, she'll be on the Catacombs Level 4. Once you get to her, it's generally a smart idea to clear out the area around Andy before you disturb her. If you aren't using a merc, the only thing I suggest is that you run around like crazy and cast blizz INFRONT of her. you want her to walk INTO your attack. Don't let her hit you, and try not to get poisoned. If you get poisoned, TP back to town on the "safe" side near the entrance to Catacombs Level 3. If you're using a merc, let him distract her and cast blizz on her until she dies. Don't let your merc die. If his health drops too low, go back to town and feed him pots or stay on the safe side. Your merc can die, even in town, if he is poisoned.

• The Countess. She's found in Act 1 and is a very minor minion. You will need the Black Marsh WayPoint for quicker access. She is found in the last level (Level 5) of the Forgotten Tower. Basically if you're merc-less, don't attempt to do her. You need your merc to clear out all of the cold immunes, and she's surrounded by them. TP to her, I usually stand outside the backroom until my merc clears out all of her immunes. Then I step in and blizz her if he hasn't already taken care of her for me.

• The Summoner. He's found in Act 2. This is also a minor minion. You need the Arcane Sanctuary WayPoint to access this guy. He's found at the end of one of the four branches. His path is the only path that ends in stairs. (If you aren't using AutoTeleport). For me, this guy can be a pain in the ass because I have no protection against any of his baddies. I generally teleport as fast as I can towards him, and if his platform is simi-clear, I'll TP ontop of him and blizz until he dies, usually takes one hit. It's never him that I have the problem with, its the number of baddies he has surrounding him. Usually it's Lords that get to me. This is also a guy you don't want to do without your merc.

• Mephisto. He is found in Act 3 and is the major minor boss for this act. You need the Durance of Hate Level 2 WayPoint. He is found on Level 3. There are two ways that I've developed to tackling this asshat. Method One, without the merc, is to TP around to catch his attention and draw him towards the edge of his little area. TP on the other side and back away from the edge until you are out of his line of site and you can still attack him with your blizzard. This method can be quite slow. Method Two is to TP right up next to him, have your merc keep him distracted and to back away enough to where he is totally focused on your merc. Blizz away until he dies. DO NOT catch the attention of the council, unless you have the Rising Sun ammy. If you catch their attention, swap that ammy in, and let the fire absorb heal you from the hyrda attacks while you're blizzing the council. On occasion the council may be cold immune.

note: This guide is for a pure blizz sorc. It usually takes me 2-3 minutes to get through all of them. It's generally a good idea to stay in the game for at least 5 minutes. If you change games too quick, you'll RD... Nobody wants to RD. T_T

My sorc was able to start doing these at around level 75.
My skills(now) are as follows.
Blizzard: Maxed
Glacial Spike: Maxed
Cold Mastery: Maxed
Ice Bolt Maxed:
Ice Blast: Maxed
Frost Nova: 1
Telekinesis:1
Teleport:1
Warmth:1

I was so upset when Blizz patched from 1.09 to 1.10. I had a lvl 96 Frozen Orb sorc with ~1600% MF... I could tele down to Meph, kill him, claim his loot, sell/repair and make a new game all within 2 mins. Then synergies were added and Frozen Orb sorces became useless. I took a break and came back to find my characters had expired so I just deleted D2 all together.

On topic: great gude, though. From what I remember of D2 it all looks good and about as correct as it gets.
