Ok, so having witnessed a lot of confusion and questions of the rep system, I've written this guide to help users better understand the way it works.
ALRIGHT! Lets explain the visible portions of rep.
On the left of your post, located under your username, location, age, whatever, you'll notice "Rep Power" Rep power is your ability to give other users rep, in fact, half of your rep power directly effects their rep level, we'll get into more depth about have you obtain a higher rep power later on.
Underneath that, you'll notice this:
This icon is a visible representation of your rep level. It indicates to users how "popular" you are on the site. Also, if you hover above it, it'll give you a description.
Now lets start getting into the numbers.
The default amount of rep you obtain when you register with gaminggutter is
5
You must have a total of
25 posts before you can give Rep
Every 120 days after your registration date, you will obtain
1 rep power point
Every 750 posts, you will obtain
1 rep power point
Every 75 Rep points you will receive
1 rep power point
You can give rep to
5 people every 24 hours
You must give rep to at least
3 times before visiting the same person again.
To obtain more "rep bricks" you must achieve a certain amount of rep points.
-50 rep points -
Is Desperately sucking
-10 rep points -
Is a Potty Mouthed Hooligan
0 rep points -
Is a New Face in Town
5 rep points -
Is gaining popularity
10 rep points -

50 rep points -
Is Popular
100 rep points -
Is Amongst Royalty
150 rep points -
Is a Party Captain
250 rep points -
Is a Lord of Awesomeness
So on so forth.
I wanted to keep this rather brief in case of changes to the system in the future.
