This guide aims to teach users how to make their very own AMV.
Essentials/Highly needed
-Windows Movie Maker (the simplest and yet one of the most professional ways to make a video)
-A computer
-A good taste in music
-A good source in music (limewire, uTorrent, iTunes)
-A theme of your AMV
Windows Movie Maker Introduction
Windows movie maker is a program that ALL computers should have, it can be accessed by going to programs -> accessories -> windows movie maker.
What this does, is allow to you add movies/episodes/films, pictures and music to make an AMV. You insert a video, and you can cut out certain parts of the movie/episode, so that your left with the cool stuff.
You can also individually tweak each part by doing cool things such as slowing them down, speeding them up, rotate, introduction and exit effects (twirls, swirls, from left corner etc.).
Starting your AMV
Okay, how to actually make it, open up windows movie maker, and on the left bar, click "Videos" under "Import. Now you need to find which film you'd like to add, you can add as you like (one by one) to your AMV.
DO NOT worry about music until the very end, as that is your LAST focus.
Now, it will appear at the top of windows movie maker (under imported media), you will then to drag the file, into the timeline below.
There are 3 sections, Video, Audio/Music, and Title Overlay.
Video: Where your video should go, or any other animated film along with non-moving pictures.
Audo/Music: Any music you want to add, drag it here. (your video might already have music, so to prevent clashing, click the episode/part, and go clip at the top, then go to Audio, then click mute. (you need to do this to each part if you cut out certain parts).
Title Overlay: This is where you add your titles, credits, and any other text to appear IN FRONT of your video/picture.
Editing your video
To edit your video, you need to play it by clicking play in the sample video box on the right, and then when you want to cut the video in half(or thirds or what ever) at that point, pause it, to add preciseness, and click "Split" to the right of play/stop. You can then click and drag the left or right of either part, and drag it inwards to delete that part, or, for pictures, you can drag it outward to lengthen how long the pictures stay up.
After you are positive about keeping what you want to keep, and what you don't, play through the movie just to double check.
Title
Now, you can add titles and credits, you add a starting title at the start, by clicking "Titles and credits" and then clicking which you prefer.
Pictures
I personally add a picture relating to the theme, and add the credits over that, so you don't get a default look.
Drag this to the start/end or where ever you want it, and repeat until you have all the text you like.
Music
Now, you can begin to add music, think of a song that relates to the topic, if you have a fast paced intense fighting anime, try using semi-metal/emo, try to avoid too much Linkin Park because it is used on 95% of Animes, it attracts attention because its a good band, but its good to be unique.
Tips and Hints
-Keep your AMV at 2-4 minutes
-ALWAYS add music
-Don't add text over videos, it interrupts the video, instead, add text over pictures
-Don't start the music until the title at the start finishes
-Try to time music at the very start of the video
-Do not cut your song short, try to drag on the video/credits until the video is finished, or add something informative like "Letting the song finish" if its just a few more seconds, and you've dragged it on too much
