Soul Calibur: What's your preferred character?

While many might believe Soul Calibur is just a random button pushing game, hard core fans of the game, like me, usually find that they have a character they select more than the others, one that fits their style.

Everyone's always surprised to find out mine, because of my outward appearance and the way I act. Mine's Voldo, because I like his combination of raw power and speed. While he is a hard character due to his Cirrque du Soleil-type antics, I find that with him, I can defeat almost anyone.

So, if you're a fan of Soul Calibur, whether it be I, II, III or IV, what character best suits you, and why?

I think the guy's name was Nightmare, that's the one I always used. Also, just because you have a preferred character doesn't mean you DON'T button mash lol.

anyway, i choose my character based on my opponent. if my opponent chooses a generally big and slow character i go with Talim(fuck you guys who think its embarrassing to play as girls(girls kick ass in any fighting game)) because i can usually pull a 1 combo kill before they get a chance to take a swing at me. for close range, smaller, and more nimble characters i use Siegfried, because he can keep them far enough away to where they cant hit you and begin a combo. for people like Voldo i use Yoshimitsu because a majority of his moves have low if not no prediction time. this is good because it makes it a raw combo skill fight rather than having hardcore Voldo players dodge everything you throw at them. and for longrange people i use Talim because they can hit me a bunch, but long range people usually cant pull off a succesfull kill combo. all it takes is good timing for me to get in there and pull a kill combo out of my ass, and shove it up theirs.

You never go ass to ass.

Either way: most of the time girl characters are superior to male characters in fighting games, in my opinion (because they are faster, and that's what I normally go for) But when I was playing, I like Nightmare because his damage was so high, so I like, hit the person with a three hit combo and they were dead, or I just knocked them off the edge (I think I did that? If it's possible I'm sure I did lol, it was awhile ago.)

i find it easier to nock people off the edge with more nimble characters, because you can just bat them up in the air like a volleyball and throw them off the edge like it aint no thang. and nightmare is good because of his damage count, but unless you severely train and figure out all other characters move tells you will be screwed. hes just too damn slow.

lol, When I go for throwing people, I tend to use Yoshimitsu, because while he's Voldo's arch nemesis in 2, he's got the same quick, random style that I love so much in Voldo. I suppose my third in like would be Kilik...simply because of his speed.

As for guys using girls as characters, I don't see a problem with it. For one, it's a game, and 2, the girls can just as easily beat a guy if played right. My favorite girl character is Xianghua.

I was playing against uber noobs, I'm sure you or Neo would kick my ass, I didn't get super into it. One of my least favorite characters for the game was Ivy lol, I just didn't think she made any sense, a female character that was slow, it was a mindfuck.

Also: Battle Arena Toshinden for the win.

But uh yeah, I wish I had gotten more into Soul Calibur, I never personally owned the game, it's always been friends who have had it, so I play for a bit and then never play it again lol.

See above post about not owning the game lol. I was always broke, so uh yeah, never could get the game. Next month hopefully though I'll be getting a ps3.
